Irene Cara and Andy Gibb did so very well here with this then-classic 1970s song in 1982. Irene was past "The Electric Company" and had just had fame with the theme from the movie "Fame," and was just a year or so before her "Flashdance...What A Feeling" success. It was a beautiful combination!!! At least these are preserved videos of an era that is so long ago, despite it not seeming so. Thanks, Michael, for rolling this out of your video vault time machine from the early 1980s!!! Oldies but goodies.

That's why I couldn't feel the 80s vibe from this video.. it just looks so 70s.. no disrespect intended but to me 80s and 90s are my favorite era.. is it because I am a millennial? Hehe
@jasonburger35332 жыл бұрын
@@janath9118 Thank you for that.
@jasonburger35332 жыл бұрын
@@squallleonheart8494 Yes, that might be the case of being a millennial. Many tend to favor the music of their youth. As for the more 1970s vibe coming from this performance, the video is from a 1982 episode of the 1980-1988 television series "Solid Gold" and this part of 1982 was early in the year, so only slightly more than 2 years removed from the end of the 1970s, that being 1979. The 1980s musical sounds were just getting established in the early 1980s, with the end of 1970s musical sounds that were uniquely 1970s, such as the soft rock of the era and disco, which began close to 1974 and faded by the early 1980s. The rise of synthesizers and the New Wave sounds took over a lot of popular music of the 1980s much as grunge and alternative rock did in the 1990s and emo rock did in the 2000s. Interestingly, although "Solid Gold" is a resoundingly 1980s series, but that had grown out of a 1980 2-hour special called "Solid Gold" that was a countdown of the top musical hits of 1979, with Dionne Warwick and Glen Campbell as co-hosts and and end theme "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge, which was popular at that time. The Michael Miller/Dean Pitchford classic "Solid Gold" theme did not get composed and lyricized until August 1980, a month ahead of the September 13, 1980 debut of the series. On the regular series, there was a 1983 episode that was a salute to the 1970s. So, although a 1980s television series, there was other 1970s music featured as well.

Not unless they were born again. Salvation is repentance from sin and believing the gospel. Repentance means turning away from sin. Sin is transgressions of God's laws. The gospel is believing in Christ death, burial and ressurection. Believing that he died for our sins and that through him, we have Salvation. Salvation from what? Spending eternity in Hell. Yes, Hell is real just like Heaven. Jesus is the only way to get to Heaven. It's not by our works, being a good human, being rich or poor, being able to sing, play an instrument, going to church.... None of these things get you into Heaven. Call on the name of the Lord for Salvation. Not your mother, father, brother, sister, kids cousins or a priest. This is the way to Heaven...... Romans 10:9:10 kjv 9.That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

When you look at the both of them, they look so full of life and longevity --- yet both died unexpectedly --- and under such sad circumstances! Be grateful for what you are and what you have! #facts

This is a gem!! So cool that they did this in 1982, even though it was at the time an older song.

And they were singing in live; no trick or hoax at all, only their talent. RIP both of you ❤

@@rossscott7157 I like them both. They were present in my youth. When I was 20 I began to attend a jazz dancing school because of Irene Fame movie and Flashdance and her What a Feeling song. I didn’t intend to work as a dancer, of course, due to it was a little late for that, but let me tell you that it was the happiest time of my life. So, she was very special for me. Good memories ❤️
