Jacqueline, What you said about "god is good" I do hope that was just not "tongue in check" When a people stop believing in God and asking for his help and protection there is no one to help. All humans can do is to look to each other for help and as in the case of those fires humans were not able to do mush. God makes it rain. Many American no longer believe in God but believe only in themselves, who can they turn to in times of trouble, only to themselves.

"Children are here for the entertainment of their parents," cracked me up. I miss those big family gatherings in the summer, shooting off fireworks, catching the field on fire, and Halloween parties involving pitchforks and chainsaws and screaming, squalling kids - lots of fun stuff.😀 I honestly wish everyone had the opportunity to grow up half wild like we did back then. All great stories tonight. Thanks to all the contributors, and to Cam. Y'all picked the best narrator in the biz.

My folks were born in 1920s east Texas. They grew up without radios or TVs. People told stories and made live music for entertainment. They always told great stories. People love your channel because you are a natural storyteller. The way the old folks used to tell them: just matter of fact... Uurrrrgh 🐻🍀😁👍

At 8:42 he says that families no longer sit around the dinner table and tell old stories because of our busy lives. We aren't busy we choose to sit and play games on computers, mothers don't want to cook for a family dinner. We aren't busy we're lazy and distracted even to bring our family together for dinner. We choose to make kids have activities after school because adults don't have to take care of them if there gone.

My son makes his daughter put her cell phone in her room, until supper time is over. He refuses to have phones at the table. I think it's a good thing he is doing. Dinner time to me, as I was growing up... was to get in touch with each other over the days events in our lives. Prayer, is a must at my son's table. I think he's doing a bang- up job raising his children!

@@earlwright9715 I liken shutdowns to harvest seasons of the farmers...that is where we make the money. They would stagger our buildings for the shutdowns so we would work almost two months straight...not complaining. But new owners took over...we had a shutdown that would normally take us a week to do...this time it was a little over two because they wanted to limit out OT...they were so happy that they saved us $10k in overtime costs...then the building team leader yelled at them explaining that it cost them $1 million in production...the higher ups told him not to speak up like that again or he would be gone.

Awesome stories, Cam! When we have lots of people gathering in Aotearoa (NZ), we have a hangi. A fire is built in a pit, and on top of the simmering embers, go packets of meat, and vegetables. It is topped up with sticks, leaves and earth to form an oven. It's a traditional way of cooking for Maori and Pacific Island people, that has been readily adopted by immigrants here. Easy, economical, no fuss cooking! It's how I cook when the electricity fails... Everything gets a lovely smokey flavour... the best beans ever! ❤

Who else saw Bigfoot’s face in those rain clouds? Hehe! I did! Really good bedtime stories. That one with the hunter in the tree stand...I caught myself holding my breath. Scary! Strange how people can hear a little fact, or detail, in one of these stories and it sends your mind back in time....back to when you had a similar experience, but never gave it a second thought, at the time it happened. You just thought it was weird and went about your business. But then when a story elicits that memory, you can put two and two together and maybe we get lucky and you send Cam YOUR story. Have a great weekend, everyone! And Cam, I’ve talked about your channel to lots of people and even in live-streams! You’re a KZbin celebrity, so put on that crown, spin us a yarn, don’t let us down🤣😂 love ya 💕

Those oral stories really have gone to the grave. My grandfather and some neighbors had spent one morning out chasing a wild boy or Wildman through the woods near their home in southern Kentucky with no luck. The men took lunch under a shade tree in his yard. A few minutes into their break a small cloud came over and a single lightning bolt hit that tree killing my grandfather instantly. He had leaned his chair back against the tree. He was the only one hit. My father was nine years old when he saw his dad killed. I sure wish I had had a chance to meet him.
