My favorite ancient aliens memory was in a high school history class. Most of the class was gone for a field trip, so the teacher didn’t feel like teaching. We suggested watching something like the history channel. She said “I’ll turn it on, but if i hear one word about aliens I’m shutting this down.” She turned it on and they were discussing Japanese religion. We were all lulled into a false sense of security until that fateful line: “ancient astronaut theorists believe.” Our teacher fell out of her chair she was laughing so hard and shut it off immediately. This show is my favorite to watch while drinking now. It’s so stupid.

Not alien-related , but one of my favorite Bigfoot theories comes from (I think) Finding Bigfoot, an Animal Planet show that ran for 100 episodes and featured a man who was credited as a "Bigfoot Call Expert". The saddest thing is that Enkidu is a really interesting literary character, showing a very early story about the “self-domestication” of humans that laid the basis of civilization. Enkidu has only shown up in the Epic of Gilgamesh, so we don’t think he was a god or religious figure, but was purely mythological. He was just a story figure, and there seems to be a memory captured here of a time before agriculture. His whole “arc” is going from being a “wild man” whose most civilized skill is herding animals….and him learning to become “human” from the act of eating bread and learning about farming, and having sex with a woman. This, at the very least, shows the values of the people who wrote and told these stories, and might even be a link into prehistory… But instead of talking about any of that, they said he was Bigfoot and an alien. Truth is so much more interesting than fiction, guys….

For me, the biggest "WTF" moment of Ancient Aliens was when they made a whole episode about Superheroes. They're logic was "Superheroes are like the modern day mythology. Old Mythology was based on Aliens. Therefore, Superheroes are based on Aliens." They just wanted an excuse to show clips from The Avengers and The Dark Knight.
@rosieclown8817 Жыл бұрын
They're based off of God's. I mean besides the obvious like Thor. Superman for example is Kel-el which sounds almost the same as Hel-el. Helel is the true hebrew name for lucifer. Lucifer fell from the sky, and his powers are tied to stones, which witches believe their are powers in stones. The author of Superman believed in shamanism (Talking to demons and spirits. So the fact that you guys don't understand why they mentioned it shows an ignorance of the occult and occultist, as well as history.
@dylanlewis5113 Жыл бұрын
@@rosieclown8817 That's pretty interesting. They could have used that in the episode. He fights Gilgamesh and they end up becoming friends, they slay Humbaba for cedar trees, causing a curse to Enkidu which causes his death and Gilgamesh's obsession to find Utnapishtim to conquer death. I would dought that there was an ancient species like Bigfoot or Yowie because there haven't been any bones discovered of such creatures. And, being that it would be a species which was on different continents there is more likelihood of it being found. Though, I will point out there would only would be a small population of it in existence today, which would mean chances are that is a reflection of it's existence in the past. That being all said humans are highly susceptible and genetically designed to recognise humanoid shapes as another person. Thus we would see a mystery shape or animal and assign the description as a human then discover it isn't and then change it's description to a humanoid creature in a matter of seconds. But, I really liked that this comment pointed out the Yowie. I forgot to think of other ancient cultures that have bigfoot-type cryptids. Plus pointing out how Indigenous Australians lived alongside ancient creatures of Australia brings up an interesting point to be mentioned.

Also Enkidu is a man beast made of clay who first wrestled with Gilgamesh and later they became best pals and had weird relationship with some woman, Gil went to look for elixir of immortality and later cried over Enkidu dying on return. Goliath was a human enemy general who wasn't beastly or magical, just big because he wasn't a native but of the Sea Peoples and probably had European ancestry. David, a shepherd later turned king, headshots and beheads him. There's no wrestling, friendship, or mysticism. There's literally NOT A SINGLE THING IN COMMON BETWEEN THE TWO STORIES. But here's the catch: even if Epic and Gilgamesh and Tanakh, the Hebrew Bible, were similar, they weren't written oceans apart. Google maps gives 93km between Abraham's hometown, Ur, and Gilgamesh's Uruk. That's a regular caravan path. Absolutely realistic that two completely different stories could have been known by people living a few city states apart (I know David lived later and further, but a lot of Bible stories were written down circa Babylonian exile so in the SAME REGION).

Ancient Aliens is brought to you by the words "think," "believe," "contend," and the misunderstanding of the word "probably". Special thanks to the confirmation bias for never letting the word "evidence" get us down. And of course viewers like you. Thank you.

I love how these shows present evidence. They go "Its possible" or "some think" and then immediately continue on as if its fact and use it to support other arguments

Logical chain: Enkidu was wild man of clay. Goliath was an enemy general in the nearby region. Two unrelated stories with nothing in common... COINCIDENCE?! No, it means yetis had extraterrestrial superpowers. Because Sumeria and Israel are oceans apart! (They're not).

Its arguably more "heavily implied" that Gilgamesh and Enkidu were romantically involved with each other than it was "heavily implied" that Enkidu was an alien but the history channel doesn't want you to look too closely at that part of history.

Distance between Abraham's home town if Ur and Gilgamesh's city of Uruk is 93km. An insurmountable distance! But also, there's nothing in common between Enkidu the wild man of clay and Goliath the human warrior.

People taking the Bible and other ancient texts literally normally frustrates me but this is just amusing. It's like when someone purposely grabs an ancient quote divorced from all context to "prove" the Bible is "lying" (rather than acknowledge that ancient literature was only partially based on facts and heavily embellished as they try to tell a story to make a point, rather than simply record a factual account). But this show, instead of using common sense and saying "that doesn't sound right" they say "IT'S ON THE BIBLE SO IT MUST BE THE TRUTH AND THE ONLY WAY IT CAN BE TRUE IS IF IT'S ALIENS". Top notch stuff.

Having been on an army base myself in the early '90s (Fort Jackson), I was amazed how you can be out in what seemed to be the middle of nowhere. Yet when you peek through a few trees and bushes you can see there's a McDonald's a few hundred feet away, but yet you can't hear anything else other than what you would typically hear when in the woods. It seems to me that a lot of Bigfoot researchers look like they're going out in the woods, when really they're just in a wooded area surrounded by civilization.
