If he is smart he could break the line long before the rod. And if he's good he may be able to fight it just right and catch him on it. No different than fighting a 10lb bass on super light weight tackle.

Goliath groupers aren’t good for eating and the fish in this video is about 40 years old and they don’t reproduce often if you knew your fish then you’d realize year it’s be fun to catch but you gotta let those go or your kids won’t ever catch one

My dad swears on his life that one time when he was fishing, he got a bluegill on the line so he reeled in slow knowing it would have been an easy catch. Then he felt a strong tug so he tried to set the hook and sent the bluegill flying at him. Off of it came a huge northern pike. He reeled in the bluegill and saw the most of its tail missing.

@Oliver Von arx that applies to most fish, there are unfortunatly some fish that are simply too big for the gear, also requires no obstructions and a boat to chase, however your point stands true in almost every case.

I used to love catching Jack fish. One time I had a strong jack on the line and as it came closer, it was maybe only about 10" and a Tarpon came and scooped it up haha! It was epic. I miss that rod and reel so much..

In Canada I caught a perch which was swallowed whole by a Northern. I was a young boy then and usually had my grandparents help me get the fish off the hook. While they were both on the hook my grandparents were doing God knows what, "prolly taking a dump off the side of the boat" both fish jumped off the hook. First the Northern and next the Perch. That was 24 years ago. Still pissed about it till this day because me and my family were going to mount both of those fish together and it would of looked awesome above the fireplace.
