OG would have made a difference. Not only the great regular season record with him but against Indiana they were 2-0 with him in the line-up, or at least him playing game 1 and 3/4s of game 2. In the games he didn't play New York was 1-4 (not including the 5 minutes he played in game 7). Not saying they would have beaten Boston but the Knicks would have definitely made it to the ECF with a healthy OG

ANY Raptors fan will have a hard time telling you the last time OG had a healthy season. We all loved him to death while we had him and all had/have a hard time seeing him go, but THIS ISN'T NEW FOR FOR OG. OG has missed significant time on the court since pre-Kawai; in fact, I always preach that the time off he had during the Kawai season was the best thing for him, watching Kawai daily from the bench and soaking it all in. He unquestionably has gotten better every year, only to see him get injured as the season closes and going into the playoffs. He's 100% the type of player you can see being a crucial role player in a dynasty type team. He's one of the best swiss army knives in the NBA unquestionably, but that injury blade comes out way too often.

I think KG made a point with Stephen A. It’s usually management that screws it up the following season after a team wins a chip. Take the 2008 Celtics for example. They lost James Posey to free agency. Didn’t retain Eddie House and Leon Powe. The 2010 Celtics had Tony Allen who Kobe said was the best defender he’s ever faced, but c’mon, Tony Allen was only 6’4. Not 6’8 like James Posey. Celtics lost some of their length by the time they had their rematch with the Lakers. We saw it again with the 2020 Lakers. They broke up that team immediately. Let go of Dwight, Rondo, McGee, and Caruso. Not that I believe they would’ve repeated in 2021 since AD was going down against Phoenix. But why make the drastic changes? Then the Lakers decided to let go of Malik Monk who thrived in Sacramento the following season. Then the Lakers lost Schröder and Lonnie Walker. They lost a little bit of their defensive feistiness by losing Schröder. Denver should’ve never let go of Bruce Brown and Jeff Green. But management wants to cut corners and then the roster gets a little worse and they’re never as good as the roster that won them a championship. I do believe it’s the end of dynasties. And you know what? I actually like it! Adam Silver said he always wanted to copy the NFL with their parity. It makes each new season more unpredictable. The last 5 champions failed to repeat and make it beyond the 2nd round after winning the chip the year prior…. 2020 Raptors (2nd round exit) 2021 Lakers (1st round exit) 2022 Bucks (2nd round exit) 2023 Warriors (2nd round exit) 2024 Nuggets (2nd round exit) I think this is good news for fans who roots for their teams in smaller markets. No more seeing Lakers or Celtics winning all the time. Each team is only built for ONE season. More one and done teams. Every team gets a chance to eat a slice of that championship pie. Since 2011, teams who won their first ever championship… 2011 Mavericks 2016 Cavaliers 2019 Raptors 2023 Nuggets 2024 Timberwolves???? Kinda gives hope to my dumbf**k Clippers. Maybe we will finally catch a lucky break on health next year? Nah. We’re screwed. Too old. Too cursed. Kawhi is broken goods. The new 2014 Brooklyn Nets banking on guys in their mid 30s and could no longer hang against stars in their mid 20s. While my Clippers suck, guess who’s made a big comeback to his career? Kyrie. Dude is still playing while Embiid, Jokic, Giannis, LeBron, AD, Steph, KD, Kawhi, PG, Harden, and Russ are all fishing. It’s a new era. Only build teams with very short term views because nobody knows which teams will get injured again. Death of dynasties, superteams, dynamic duos, and big threes. Embrace parity and just hope your team can remain healthy. The younger teams are succeeding because their best players are still young that they can stay healthy.

While I agree with you that front offices tend to mess up a good thing, it's important to remember that the salary cap plays a bigger part in it. Take the 2020 Lakers, they actually didn't immediately break up that team. They brought everyone back in 2021 but they had major injuries to both AD and LeBron, including AD in the 1st round vs the Suns. They couldn't run it back after that as so many key players like Kuzma and Caruso were no longer under contract. Kuzma went from a contract paying him $2M making $25M this year. The same thing happened with the 2008 Celtics. They couldn't afford to keep Posey because of the Big 3's contracts. They let Posey and others go but their cap still went up. They also had to prepare for when Rondo was going to be resigned. The Nuggets are experiencing the same pain which is why they had to let Bruce Brown walk. KCP and Gordon might be next because they are already paying Jokic, Murray and MPJ over $35M each next year. The downside to winning a chip is that your players become more valuable/costly, and you can't pay everyone. Especially if you have a supermax player already. Go look at any of the teams you mentioned and see who they lost to FA because they couldn't afford them. Boston will be that team soon thanks to that mega contract they gave Brown. If you want to keep a team together get some of these stars to take less, instead of $50M.

They do not need another star, they need a few more dogs. Look at the production Thibs got from Hart, Hartenstein, Deuce, and when healthy, OG. They need to bring back the core, and theyre going to need a shooter but not at the expense of their defense and rebounding. Length is the NBA gold standard, I'd be fine if they moved Mitchell Robinson and added another wing defender provided they retain OG. Let guys like Dante and Deuce grow into their roles but they definitely need more depth if they're going to play rough.
@MrRapmaster19

Not even, they just need decent health. Thankfully, they have 2 1st rounders, I can guarantee you they'll spend one on a wing to backup OG and Bogdanovic, both of whom are the most suspect to injury and provide a lot of catch and shoot scoring. If they don't trade Mitch, they'll probably use the other pick on a backup center. Thibs has done a great job developing the team's lower draft picks into, at worst, decent role players (I.e. Quickley, Robinson, McBride, and Grimes) and it's safe to say he can do it again.

@@emesimpieBecause fans that actually know basketball understand the reasons for his performances. The 2021 season was literally his first playoff appearance and he was constantly doubled and tripled team. His teammates at the time were Elfrid Payton, RJ Barrett, and Reggie Bullock. Literally had no reliable second option except a washed D Rose off the bench. So all the hawks had to do was double him EVERY time and have a 3rd help defender waiting for him at the rim. The 2nd playoff appearance was when he injured his ankle and was advised not to play on it but he rushed back and did so anyways. He ended up RE-Injuring it AGAIN against Cleveland in game 5 and immediately needed ankle surgery after the season was over verses Miami. So now, a healthy Julius, who is now the SECOND option on offense would definitely help the Knicks. Brunson would not have to shoulder all the offensive load and teams couldn’t double Julius in the post anymore because the Knicks have lots of shooters. Please learn basketball before running around with just narratives.

@@MrRapmaster19Yeah for some reason Brooklyn is acting like Mikal is Jokic lmao. He only averaged 19PPG on 43% shooting. He had a down year and even his defense slipped a bit because of the offensive load he was forced to carry. He’s clearly not a number 1 option, and he couldn’t even carry his team to the play-in tournament in the weaker eastern conference. A deal of McBride, one of Bojan or Mitch, and 3-4 Picks should be more than enough for him. But Brooklyn seems to want a star in return for him lmao.

@@cybertutorials5609 I think they’re making a push to trade for Donovan Mitchell, no other reason to decline that trade Houston offered for Bridges (Jalen Green plus their picks back from the Harden trade). Declining that trade with a chance to get a great young player and a chance to truly rebuild is just bewildering to me if they’re not trying to get a star.

@@MrRapmaster19 Yeah they’re definitely gonna try to get Donovan. They probably offer Cam Thomas, Cam Johnson, and 3 Picks for him. But Cleveland may send him to Miami for Herro, Jamie, and 3 Picks instead. Depends on what Donovan wants to do since he’s an expiring contract. I think Donovan may prefer Miami or LA over BK since he won’t have much help in Brooklyn. If they can’t get Donovan, then they probably pivot to Trae, Ingram, or evan Garland or Dejounte. If they can’t land any of those guys, then they’ll consider just trading Bridges.

How many times does it need to be said? Jalen Brunson IS a bona-fide superstar and a viable #1 option on a contender, and when this team was fully healthy they were not just beating great teams like the Timberwolves, Nuggets, and 76ers (all of which were at full health too), they were outright DESTROYING them, the latter two by nearly 40 points. All the Knicks really need to do this offseason is re-sign OG and Hartenstein, use their 1sts to draft a backup wing and center with OG and Robinson being more injury prone, and just get everybody at full health. This is the kind of roster you 1000% run it back with, they should not make any sort of rash moves.

If Brooklyn can’t successfully trade for a star to pair with Mikal this summer, then the Knicks should offer McBride, one of Mitch or Bojan, and 3-4 picks for him. A lineup of Brunson, Mikal, OG, Randle, and Hartenstein with a bench of Donte, Josh, whoever they draft, and one of Bojan or Mitch leftover is a championship contending roster.

Knicks lost because of Thibs' inability to manage minutes and injuries. Last year it was Randle. Randle ain't all that great to begin with. He had an ankle injury that made him far less effective than usual. Instead of just playing Obi Toppin, Thibs insisted on using Randle. Randle, of course, as always, played horribly in the playoffs and the Knicks were eliminated by the Heat. Knicks were a much better team with healthy Toppin than they were with Randle on one good ankle. This year, the Knicks had a limping Mitch Robinson. Thibs played him until he couldn't play anymore instead of using Precious. Bojan went down. Thibs could have split Bojan's minutes between Alec and Precious. Alec is a better ball handler and perimeter defender. Precious is a better defender/rebounder. Thibs just decided to go with 7 guys and play JB and OG nearly every minute of every game until they broke down...and he played Josh Hart LITERALLY every minute of every game until he went down. All the while, Alec Burks and Precious were DNPs and Deuce could have played more minutes. Nobody else played guys the minutes Thibs did. Not even teams that were shorthanded. Thibs wore his guys out. He was beaten by a better coach who used the roster his front office provided for him.

Knicks just need to get a deeper rotation if anything else. I know Thibs loves playing his starters for almost the entire 48 minutes, if not all 48, but that's not a recipe for success, as clearly shown. Somebody said it recently, but if the Knicks had a quality backup PG, like the Pacers have McConnell to backup Haliburton, it probably makes a huge difference so that way Brunson had more than 10 seconds a game to sit.

The max they can offer is 4yrs/$180M this summer. - Brunson is also extension eligible this year, but if he waits until next year, he qualifies for the 5yr/$270M supermax extension. - Coach Thibbs is on the verge of getting his extension since the 5 year coaching deal he signed back in 2020 is almost over. - Precious Achiuwa AND Alec Burks are also free agents this year and will need new deals if the Knicks decide to keep them. So instead I continue to draft and aquire pieces. We need at least one more 3 and D guy who's 6'7 at least. We need another pg off the bench because that isn't deuce. Deuce is more of a 3 and D 2 guard. Lastly and most importantly, this current team just needs to stay healthy. And by adding more pieces, it helps preserve some guys.
