It was always amusing how Lowndes' tyre failure came not even a minute after the team reassured the pit reporter that they were monitoring the degradation. That sequence of events could not have been better engineered for the want of trying. 😆

G'day supercars! How bout a CGI graphic of potential damages to the driver & car! It doesn't sound good @ first but I reckon like crash test Dummies, what it can potentially mean for the driver! & How important, the safety of the cars have advanced over the years! It would certainly reinforce for me personally driver safety... Just my opinion, & we all know what there like! 😁😂😉

I remember a support race they had were one car almost jumped into the grandstand

It was a Porsche Cup car. It actually went over the 5 or so meter high phone poles along the outside of the front straight at about the same spot where Lownde's tyre blew. It wasn't violent by the time it gently toppled over and landed on it's roof. In one of the other weekends, I think it was the same one that Brad Jones had his flip, one of the Porsches did the same thing during their first practice on a cold Friday morning but actually flipped over the barrier by the tyres and ended up on it's roof in the pit lane itself.
