This video is the closest to a memory I have of when I was around 3-4 years old in Mexico around the late 90’s My mother and I used to walk and deliver food/run errands and there would be so many spiders like this every where you went. On trees , power lines houses. I have a vision burned into my mind of a seeing sky diver who looked small since he was so far away and at the time thinking he’s going to fall right into the spider webs. My cousins and I used to go around with a 2 litter bottle and collect big spiders in them sometimes we would fill the bottles half way and then throw it in to the river.

Lovely. I like orb weavers. They're generally non-threatening to us. The ones we have in Ireland range from a matt orange to dark brown in colour with a white cross marking on their abdomen. They have a much more rotund abdomen in proportion to their small head, unlike the species in this video. I told this story in a comment on another video the other day on an American orb weaver. I was sitting on a park bench one time scrolling through social media on my phone but otherwise motionless. So still that I didn't notice an orange coloured orb weaver (or garden spider as they're also called here) had spun a strand to me until I saw it seemingly crawling through the air from a bush a couple of meters away. I let it explore my hand until it realised I wasn't an anchor point but another living creature. Then I carefully put it back on the bush it came from.
