On a blue sky but freezing cold day with about 15-20 mph wind... I took my daughter to the Cheviots to visit the old 7th Century Anglo-Saxon royal palace that was abandoned around 655AD and to head up the top of Northumberland's largest Iron Age hillfort. The site, that included 130 roundhouses, dates to around 500BC and would've originally have been pink to look upon. However, my daughter was more interested in just bagging the peak and enjoying the views.
On the way back down we were lucky enough to see the wild goats and managed to approach them with ease. Sadly I forgot to visit the standing stone while I was there... so something for another time.
The leaflet that we were following for the walk can be found at:

Hi nick I think from what I remember a lad called Larry had a place between greenhaugh and hareshaw it would be classed as tarset I used to take him dog food in the bad winter days by quad bike. Spearman does ring a bell but with my memory find it hard to place them. We had some great nights in the hollybush at greenhaugh also at the village hall(big shed) lol always plenty Northumbrian singing and great crack. What I liked was that wether a lord or a peasant as such after hours you were seen as equal. Great place and great people. Do you know of allister at greenhaugh he was the local smithy and later mechanic he was a local legend done know if he’s still with us though. I’m going back up to hareshaw soon when I’m up to it too see the Peart family I used to work for. Can’t wait to see them again. Miss the country so much m8 upsets me talking about a life once lived and loved. Sheep dip has a lot to answer for in my life mate. Looking forward to your next vid nick take care m8

Bloody hell who was your grand father allowed to shoot a wild goat there still here because they have been protected for hundreds of years I think through religious belief killing one of them and being caught would be like killing a red kite over Derwent these days they are protected for some reason and I believe for Masonic rituals it’s long been known but hidden nick the goats of Northumberland are apparently sacred and well protected more than any bird or vermin badger or fox. The same as a cockerel they have them at ceremonies but only natural wild and organic makes you think nick why? Take care nick
