Capacitors from 60s had ESRs that would be considered high resolution today. Starting in the 70s, they gutted the quality. Just another hit on audio, which in its history, has taken a fair number of hits..

The biggest lie is convincing consumers there are "magic" solutions to having "perfect" sound reproduction. The reality is that sound reproduction is a mature tech. The science and engineering of sound reproduction is very well understood. It is not the tech that is the limiting factor, it is the relatively poor mechanism of human hearing.

Quality parts matter in a quality design. A difference in something just working, and something working optimally. Some metals are better conductors than others. Some parts are more precisely designed to spec than others. It is like having a race care with street tires, and trying to perform in a race. Some parts work more optimal in some designs than others. The design is the foundation of the device. You then build from that with quality parts. I'm starting to sound redundant.

Narrative is everything. It is incredible how much audiophile pricing and promotion is based on narrative and not sound. But this is human, narrative matters. The music, the lyrics, the community fellowship is all based on narrative. And this is a good thing.

I totaly agree. Whatever is inside of unit was problem of producer who made all fountains and gadgets and choose special famous elements which are significantly expensive. I am against paying for producer's hard job - i want to pay for results and results are for my ears and my true comfort of use. I do not want to pay with my life time and health for amusement of deliberation how it works, for confusion how to operate and for amusement for eyes to read tags, tech data and reveiws assuring that I did good for me . ,

When Air Jordans first came out, they were the most comfortable sneakers I have ever put on my feet. Then they got popular and the prices went up by about 500%. Before Free Agency, Steelers were my team. Terry Bradshaw. Lynn Swann. Mean Joe Green. The Steel Curtain. Greatest team that ever existed. Gritty. Beat the "fancy" ($$$) Cowboys in 2 S.B.

MV Augusta , and Ducati since Audi bought them 💥, watches, for investment “Patek Phillipe” , personally big fan of Hublot, for being a bit ostentatious or a IWC for more of an understated watch

Anyone aware of the Tom Evans dustup going on right now? Oh, you brought it up just as I'm writing this. Same reaction as the Tekton guy. Threaten to sue any bad review. Narcissists.

Chinese manufacturers are very responsive to discussions on forums, youtube comments, reviews and so on. Meaning that they quickly refresh their product line to match what they think people want. For example, Topping has been well known to make the best measuring gear forever, because measurements sold well. Now people say they want discrete parts instead of op amps, so suddenly Topping (and SMSL) are releasing the same products but with discrete output parts. Whatever the next trend is online, the Chinese will be there to sell you what you want! Of course with all fake parts.

all that matters is measurements. Listening tests come LAST and they should be double-blind if you are going to report your experience, otherwise its almost meaningless
@raphaelmeillat8527Күн бұрын
Measurements will come pretty much last on my list! But I'll still look at it!

Measurement devices are not on the same playing field as how Human hearing works. Maybe someday in the future they will get it figured out, but they are nowhere near that goal yet. My opinion is listen with your ears. Measurements are cool looking graphs thats it!

Tests are a different set of data. Not good, not bad, just different. That said, MAJOR problems develop when attempts are made to link listening with bench-tests .

I like you mike and I've been watching your channel for years. How did you get in the high end audio industry at such a young age to be able to buy a audio amplifier factory so long ago is unreachable by most people. forgive me but you seem like some trust fund hippies I met back in the day in phish or dead show parking lot gathering. I don't think thats a bad thing and just so you know im a 40's drugged out loser & I don't think Im better than you. I did grow up with wealthy business owner parents so Im kind of a trust fund boy my self. Just curious how you got started? You seem like you were boosted into the audio industry.
