As someone who is pro-death penalty, and classically liberal - saying his murder was “justified” presents its own moral problems, of course, but I think the issue lies in the fact that the healthcare system in America seems to be waging a war against American citizens. For those that see it as a war and a threat to their life and quality of life, they’d argue that healthcare companies fired the first shot. And when companies muse about capping the amount of anesthesia they’ll pay for in surgery, or suggest not covering ER visits that turned out to be “non critical”, then it’s hard not to see it that way. Candace Owens spoke recently about the horrifying attempts healthcare companies are making at increasing profit margins. So I’d say yes, when you gamble my life for a few extra million in profits, all while I’m paying you hundreds of dollars every month, I’d have to say that feels like an attack. So while I personally wouldn’t shoot a healthcare CEO, just like I wouldn’t personally shoot a drug dealer - I don’t have sympathy for either.

My husband and I started doing a version of this in the US. We do what is called “self pay” in the US, and more than half the time it costs less than having health insurance. We basically just waive the health insurance coverage (which costs hundreds a month) and just pay everything out of pocket. Don’t have to worry about any claims getting rejected either.

My husband and I stopped enrolling in health insurance. It’s one of the best financial decisions we’ve made. We do the math every year to make sure it is worth it. We’ve been saving thousands, even with me having multiple autoimmune diseases and needing four prescriptions every month. We pay $7/month a person for accident/catastrophe insurance. If you have insurance, any time you have a medical expense, ask for the self pay amounts to compare. The amount you see when a bill goes through insurance is not what they charge for self pay. For example, I had a treatment done recently that I paid $200. If I had had insurance I would have paid a $200 premium and my insurance would have been bill approximately $1000 (I got this info from billing) and my insurance would have only paid about $600. So I would have paid $600 with my insurance ($200 premium + $400doc bill) but without my insurance and doing self pay, I paid $200. Something I think every American should consider.

I started doing exactly that almost 4 decades ago. Telling my children's doctor it's easier to just pay cash. A mole removal that cost over $500.00 turned into a buck fifty, and DONE that day. That was about IT for me. I just started going the cash with a script card route. As luck and perseverance worked out, I haven't borrowed money for anything in several decades. I'm in the UK and I was waiting over 2 years for nerve induction tests to my leg. My doctor's respnse to my complaints about the pain was to put me on Oramorph until I threatened to sue. I then got an appointment in a few weeks but I've now been waiting 6 months to get the results of the nerve tests, 2 and a half years and I stll know nothing. God forbid you need to see a doctor here, you might get an appointment in a month or maybe a phone consultation in 12-14 days. A dentist is completely out of the question, I rang every dentist within a 50 mile radius of my house and not one would take an NHS patient. They can fit you in if you go private though but who can afford that!!

Speaking of our Christian beliefs. In my protestant belief, my faith is upheld by Jesus our Savior.. My mom was Irish Catholic... she married a Luteran raised fella. I was their last child, they were in their early 40's when I came. Mom passed when I was 9. Dad wasn't any kind of communicator so family backbround wasn't talked about. My understanding of their chucrh attendance wasn't done. Mom's dad disowned her for marrying a Lutheran. Don't know about dad's family acceptance. I am a follower of a non-denominational belief who follows the Bible doctrine in its' entirety. As Michael said, there are some who are leaders of the church who fall short of the teachings of Christ. My thinking is we as followers have the same falling away in our sins as the leaders have. We caused the 'gambling' issue. In the past, people who had money had some respect because everyone knew how hard they'd worked. They were proud, and rightly so.
