I recently asked someone if they wanted samples to review and they asked if there were funds available for the campaign. NOPE. Paying for reviews would ruin the name of the brand and the channel. We appreciate what you've done for us by giving us an honest review without compensation asked or received. I'm always happy to promote your channel.

I have some friends who are youtubers, just in a different genre. They are creeping up on 300K followers, still doesn't mean they are rolling in cash. The same misconceptions by the viewing public are shared across all genres. It's not until you get to meet folks in person that the misconceptions get cleared. Meet and greets have their own issues, with folks having some wild expectations after getting a miniscule look into your lives. That being said, I've met lifelong friends who'd help in a pinch because of the meet and greets. Just do what you do, true friends will rise to the top. Slainte!

I never suspected that Whiskey Tubers got their bottles for free, BUT I do suspect that they get preferential treatment from liquor store owners because they have a YT channel. Thus, they get way more allocated bottles at or near MSRP than the average person has access to. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I constantly see Whiskey Tubers, without fail, reviewing all the latest allocated bottles like Russells 15, Four Roses LE, Michters 10, the list goes on.
@TheAverageDrinkerАй бұрын
Thanks for watching! We can’t speak for what other channels get or how they’re treated, but for us, we definitely don’t get preferential treatment at liquor stores. We hunt and travel often. We miss out on a ton of bottles but do get lucky sometimes. We wait in lines at distilleries and sometimes get bottles that way. We’re just normal people searching for whiskey like everyone else.
@TheAverageDrinkerАй бұрын
Also, many of the whiskeytubers we know get help from their Patreon communities to acquire bottles. It’s a lot of relationship building

I think some of the negativity towards whiskey tubers stems from other categories in general on KZbin. There are those KZbinrs that are not transparent about what they get for free and some are downright shills for certain companies. Whiskey tubers are a relative new comer compared to other groups on KZbin so it’s only natural that all that negativity will roll your way. It’s wrong but maybe this video will change those peoples minds that are making these accusations and if not that’s on them and not you. You two do a wonderful job and I have always enjoyed the reviews. Keep up the good work and don’t sweat the small stuff.

I appreciate the transparency here. I know too many people make assumptions, however not all whiskey tubers are as forthright in what they do between advertising on their channels and the patreon monies they make - some are approaching 10k a month, patreon shows what each makes per month. Keep up the good work, looking forward to more awesome reviews.

The issue is not getting them for free, the issue is that local stores hold bottles just so you can have them and do your videos. Do you think everyone can walk into a store and get every bottle that a you tubers does. Are you guys out hunting for bottles daily, are you paying secondary pricing like most people are. Don't really care how upset you are at people for saying this it's the facts and until people quite supporting channels like this it's never going to change because these channels are whats driving the secondary market.
@TheAverageDrinkerАй бұрын
First of all, thanks for your feedback. However, when it comes to our channel, we are out hunting for bottles just like you are. We’ve posted several hunting videos and have missed out on tons of bottles just like everyone else. We don’t get special treatment at stores, nor do we wish we did. And as for the secondary market, we’ve actually bought bottles there that we wanted to buy and simply couldn’t find while hunting. While we can’t speak for other channels, this is what’s true for us. Thanks.
@whiskeyoutlaw7898Ай бұрын
Actually you can get the same bottles if you take the time to develop relationships with the liquor stores and join in on some of the local whiskey groups. I once thought the same thing. A lot of stores hold bottles back for their customers who are going to enjoy drinking the whiskey and not out hunting bottles to sell. Secondary is driven by demand and if people are willing to pay, then it will go up. That’s true for everything. The whiskey community will share pours with you and you share with them. That’s what’s so great about it. And finding a good bottle is part of the fun.
@TheAverageDrinkerАй бұрын
@@whiskeyoutlaw7898 you’re 1000% correct!! I love this response! It’s incredibly thought out and very accurate! Thanks for taking the time to write this and respond!
@bigshowbowhunterАй бұрын
@whiskeyoutlaw7898 so I agree with part of this, but the secondary market is driven by the you tubers. Distilleries rarely advertise, so the beginners and noobs of the bourbon or whiskey communities get there info from you tubers and other social networks. How often do you see a buffo trace commercial or old forester, it doesn't happen. I have been collecting a long time and have never sold a bottle, I do give bottles away to new collectors and family members to try but I am getting pretty fed up with price gouging, it's ridiculous. I have friends that own there own liqour stores and bourbon halls and they complain about it and they would have a lot more info about it than you and i.
@bigshowbowhunterАй бұрын
@whiskeyoutlaw7898 just to add, why don't whiskey tubers highlight the distilleries. There are a ton of craft distilleries that barely produce 200 barrels a year and it is phenomenal. When is the last time you saw a you tuber do a video on just a small craft distillery such as Glenns Creek or Whiskey Thief.
