1 more question sir, bhot baar aisa hota h site pe, jab column size or column steel jaise jaise upr jaTe h to reduce ho Jaye h, as per steel design. Eg. Column C1 (230 X 530 mm) Mei initially steel is as 12 bars of 20mm upto third storey and for fourth storey steel is reduced to 8 bars of 16 mm and column size reduced to 230 X 450 MM... In this case what is the right way of providing the steel and lap connection of the column steel...please explain. Thank you 😊!!

Rebar embedment shall be designed for pull out capacity/force, it shall not be 230 mm. Newly embedded rebar length above concrete shall be lap length not @700

What happened when this problem arises at the 1st floor slab or above. I think this solution is only possible when the bars need to be fixed on footing. And what about the outer bar or the overall column reinforcement when they all displaced from their actual position. btw thanks for providing this information.

At place of weld always two bars are present so actual Ast is doubled, which accounts for loss in strength of steel; that's why always suitable lap length is essential, basic of lapping 🤗
