I always watch BigStackD but now I have one more person to watch!!! Thank you for making these video's! I enjoy them! Oh and from what I understand from watching BigStackD is if you leave molten metal in the bottom of the crucible the next you put in melts faster. Takes less gas and time that way.. give it a try!

Thank you so much for the kind words. You’re 100% right about leaving some metal in the crucible, I actually noticed my error when I was editing the video. Thank you so much, again.

@@MattMelts I plan on getting into melting metal soon, I'm retired and old so I need something to keep me out of trouble. I am looking forward to getting started. I am learning how to do it by watching video's on KZbin like your's. Keep doing what you love to do! It's not about the money, it's about saving metal from the land fills. You're very welcome and I hope my hint helps!

That was a nice haul. I like your molds. I bought graphite molds, they produce a nice finish but they just don't last and for the price, it's not worth it. Maybe if you're melting down gold and want a clean finish. I find muffin trays are good especially if you want to make copper alloys like aluminium bronze. It makes it easier to measure out, but there's nothing like a hefty ingot of copper. Great video. You scored another sub.

I have a 35ft lead sail boat ketothat is about 6500 lbs i need to take to scrap but they won't take it unless I gut it up to smaller pieces. Do you know of any way to cut something like this. I'm not into scrapping but this was given to me along with about 50k lbs of industrial electric motors for clearing the field and building it was all in. I only have a days work into it so i cant complain. After 2 years of procrastinating it's time to get rid of this stuff. Anxious to see what it sells for.

If it were me, I would get a truck/trailer and start moving it to a yard. Getting paid on each trip. The time spent dismantling and melting the metal wouldn’t be worth it in the long run. I was taught early-on, a bag of cans is worth more than a bar. I do what I do because I love the craft, and definitely not for scrap value.
@MattMelts2 ай бұрын
Your comment says “lead sailboat” so I’ll go with that. The only way to deal with that is to cut it up. Lead is a soft metal, and should be manageable. Wear a respirator, and be safe.
@omarboa68312 ай бұрын
Beautiful and awesome video. Note: You must weld handles to the molds to facilitate the process of extracting the alloy.

Got a question, why is your copper sizzling? It looks like copper coming out of furnace and you can definitely see it when you pour. Do you think you over heated it. Just asking because i started melting copper this summer and making sure I do it safely. Thanks for the video by the way.

Definitely overheated it a little. I like the sizzle though. Especially on the dark pours.

Shame that so much of the weight of that motor was steel, just the way it is. Plenty of really nice copper though.

Hi there. Did you paid for the motor or you have received it for free ? Asking just for curiosity. Thanks in advance ! Regards

I did some poor math on a bag of mortar mix that was half full, made a form that was too big, and poured what I had. It was silly that I didn’t notice it before mixing, and even worse that I used it with metalwork.

I get that. But realistically, if I left out everything BIgStackD does, I wouldn’t have a video. On that note, I always wear boots when I melt because safety, and drink to hydrate on hot days.
