BIGGEST Party in San Francisco! Bay to Breakers Race

Our experience at Bay to Breakers in San Francisco - one of the largest footraces in the world and the city's wildest, biggest costume party.
The race started in 1912 and has become a signature of SF, emblematic of the city's weirdness. Over the years, the event has gotten so crazy that city officials tried to officially ban nudity, drinking, and partying in 2009 - all the things that make Bay to Breakers so iconic. The route is 12 kilometers, taking participants through some of the most iconic spots in the city.

Yeah, B2B has calmed down a lot. They've made it more expensive and confusing to "officially" participate, and they really cracked down on intoxicants. Not as many house parties along the way. Used to be a huge afterparty in the park with big-name entertainers. Now it's a small thing at the finish line. The city is scrambling to find sponsors and is more focused on generating revenue. I think there were only maybe 40K participants last year. 2023 will be my first B2B since COVID, but it was already slowing down in the 2000-teens. At one time, you'd have 400 male and female nudists in one group, starting in their own corral, plus hundreds more randomly placed soloists. Then the guy who organized it stopped doing it. Now it is probably 3/4 male and scattered thinly through the corrals.

I love and support the diversity shown in this but the middle aged naked men disturb me greatly. I cannot be the only one that finds this disturbing. Ocean Beach area has always been my favorite neighborhood of San Francisco. The sand. The wind. The fog . The real local feel. My Mom stayed there when my Dad was being treated at UCSF. RIP Dad. That little puppy dog running was cute. Great Job once again immersing yourself in the city. Keep it up and you’ll be at 100K by September. I’m sharing your channel with everyone I know. 👊
