Light shaft effects is the lighting sources being visible in shafts in the play space, go to Blood Covenant in front of the stain glass window (where the quad/protection spawns) and turn it on and off to see the light shaft effects.

Pretty sure screenspace reflections refers to the reflections on the objects that are present on the screen, not to the space on the space maps. You can see the effect the most clearly on your weapons.

Anything dynamic such as players and particle effects get reflected in surfaces like water using screenspace reflections. You can usually tell those by their downsides like when your weapon shows up in the reflection behind it unrealistically and when the reflection doesn't show anything that isn't on the screen.

They have no idea how many well-funded gamers they could wake up with this IP. I mean cmon, you get one internet clip of Rogan playing that game, even for a second. Watch the player base dwarf the MMOs. I love quake and the unreal tournament era. Would return to gaming if QC went beyond a side project.

The player base is small because it's an incredibly hardcore competitive shooter.

@@Wobbothe3rd The player base is small in part because when you say Quake Champions, half the community goes "but it's not muh old quake" and the other "the engine is horrible but i don't really understand why", with a few "somehow it's not balanced" radicals on the side. It could be both the greatest engine on the planet and the greatest Quake game ever, it might as well cure cancer and end world hunger - but that won't stop the delusional Quake community bashing it.

I don't think It refers to the shaft weapon. It's about the visible rays of light (so called "god rays"). For instance, we can see some on Ruins of Sarnarth at rail.

Can someone explain why the "force respawn" thing is not yet removed and replaced by a somewhat random spawn location? I mean it is somewhat unfair to know where the low stacked player will spawn, right?

not a dumb question at all. It's a SIHOO M57, similar in design to an Herman Miller, i would suggest buying this for gaming instead of all those gaming chairs out there. Super comf

NOOOO not a 300 fps frame cap!? On the other hand, if its more stable that is a good thing - I was always frustrated by how I could never get a perfectly stable framerate. But I'm going to be very sad if I can't get 360hz anymore :~( Quake Champions was one of the FEW GAMES I could use to show off a 360hz monitor!!!

Even if you cap at 300, 360hz is still better than 240hz. Don’t worry

​@vengeur yes. In fact after actually testing this I'm actually surprised. Overall performance is MUCH BETTER. Still kinda sucks that you cant have an uncapped framerate for benchmarking, but overall performance is much better.

The engine update may be matter of discussion.. but changes in weapons damage and changes in ability of champions just before QC Pro League is just not ok..

There are die hard quakers that will play quake forever. .maybe not the hugest player base, but we are dedicated. There is nothing better than Quake, imo, when it comes to competitive pc gaming. I have been playing Quake since the first game, anf hope to be playing until I am too old to move a mouse and too blind to see my monitor.

anti cheat is useless ,because the ones who makes the games sells the cheats and trainers .

There are not many cheaters in QC and the cheaters will still get wrecked by a good player...so cheaters tend to go elsewhere. I wpuld say most cheaters are raging about losing or sucking at the game and are trying to just piss off specific users. Also...most players can easily spot a cheat and report them. I record every match anyway so it is easy to show proof...but i have only ever seen cheaters a few times, less than a handful were competent at cheating, and they get bullied or match abandoned so they dont even get a chance to cheat before beijg reported. I think moat cheaters go elsewhere where you can wreck as a cheater, like slightly outdated COD games.

So I decided to try the game again because of this video and it's worse than ever. There's not a single server with under 200ms ping. Like 240ms on European servers?! What the hell?! They're like a few kilometers away from me! It's unplayable. Also a dude somehow killed me from a totaly different place on the map. Hacker I guess.
