Our local track did that with tires . We ran American racer 50 on the right rear then mid season some were allowed a 56 right rear and nobody was told until it slipped out that the winner won with it 3 weeks on 3 different cars . Big difference in tire !!!

Mr. Nash... I thank you for keeping the "good stuff" in the video. Between Gary's video and yours there's no question of what happened. Then when the protestor in the golf cart, couldn't even make eye contact with you, it told the plot. I guess when you make the rules you can do what you want with them no matter how wrong it is. If I were you or Gary I'd reach out to HTF and talk to Joshua's wife. She's an attorney and had covered things like this in a video months back. If the track wants to cry safety they're committing the act of prejudice with negligence. From Gary's video they scaled you, checked rear deck height, and set you on your way. So where was the inspection leading up to the infraction? Weaponization of rules...hmm, sounds familiar.

Protest rules are protest rules and haven't changed in over 50 years plus. 15 mins after the checkered flag falls to protest, fill the form out, pay the protest fee and lets get it goin. No protest form after 15 mins Im rulen back to the trailer and loading up to go home victorious. Besides that, when your protested specifically, and a protest form and fee is filled out, THE PROTESTOR has to be checked first, then your car af5ter the protestor car passes. If he doesn't pass then you dont even have to tear down whatever it is. If he passes then they tear you down and IF you pass the protest you claim his protest fee as well. So wheres that money at as well. They owe you T Nash id be collecting Homey!!!!

@@deronshank75 This should be a non-protestable rule. It is the responsibility of the track to check for these kinds of safety items. It's no different than letting a guy out on the track without seat belts. Performance items can be snuck in and out of a car throughout the season. That's where protests come into play. If they were caught without the tethers during the season when they became mandatory, THAT is when this should have come up. You don't make a rule like that and not check every car on the day it was called for to be enforced.

They are effectively making a public admission that they let 2 cars on the track without a safety device that had been mandatory for half the season! WTF! Seems to me that if you implement a rule after the beginning of the season, the track should have a "complimentary" tech of all cars affected. Doing so would ensure all cars were in compliance and all teams understood the new rule. That way everyone is on the same page and the track is promoting a good track-racer relationship. I had that happen when the track I raced at went to a different system to mount fuel cells. I understand it's not the tracks responsibility to make sure you understand the rules , but this is pure chicken shit. I hope you have continued success at the track/tracks you choose to race. They are the losers in this situation.

You would think, as with every other track in the nation, these tethers, being ONLY a safety item, would have been required and inspected before you were even able to hot lap. What a bunch of BS. Every other racer there should refuse to return until reinstatements for both the win and all points are enacted. Championships from defunct unheard of tracks aren't usually worth much. I used to race a late model back in 1999 and one of the reasons I quit was when you win track owners would advertise 450 to win and when you got paid was only 250-300 because of the croud size or some other excuse. Them tracks are now closed. Not a whole lot you can do if you sue the track you will most likeky be banned from the track.

Thumbs up for telling it the way it is. 1) Any safety related issues should be addressed by the track before the main event (not by another driver after the race). 2) Any protest should be made in writing within 15 minutes after the race ends. 3) This "infraction" (which you had not been made aware of the rule change) had no performance advantage. 4) All results were in the track owner's son's favor. All this = dirty pool.

I watched the Gross Family Racing video last night, knew this Old No 7 video would be a real bad deal to see happen to 2 of the hardest working, honest, easy going racers around. That track won't do well with just their son racing by himself . Def got screwed..wait till end of season to protest the safety teacher, pretty sure way before there were winners that didn't have it, but nothing was said till now ? I’ve known Gary my entire life. He and my brother have been close friends since they were kids. I have watched Gary do for others and help people his entire life. When my brother needed work, Gary always had something for him to do. One of the absolute nicest guys I know. As a kid I spent my summers at SFCR with my dad and brother. Had recently told my fiancé I would like to start going back to watch Gary race. Looks like we’ll be traveling to watch him, because I won’t be back.

Used to race back in the 90s had several race wins taken away by slight of hand or oversight. Now that I look back we won alot . I think we became the big fish in small ponds. Is there a way to petition the sanctioning body? It would be an easy argument to say that a safety infraction is not performance for 1. For 2 if its a true safety concern, it should be addressed before the race. If the track knew your spring tether was not inplace, let you race, and someone got hurt, they could be held liable for a sort of criminal negligence. Sanctioning bodies like wissota have a clause stating that its the drivers responsibility to stay up to date on rule changes. However, they would usually tell us something at the driver meetings like "hey get the tethers on your cars. We will be checking for them starting in 2 weeks."

Yeah that all makes sense to me for sure. Now, as far as a sanction, we are supposed to be too close to the next track to be able to do that. Someone may correct me on that

This is an excellent way for a tracks car count to go way down! I was working tech at a track years ago and DQ a late model for an illegal carb and missing engine seals (crate motor) and the promoter overrode me and the other tech on it. We both quit on the spot because the illegal car was the promoters nephew. The next race only 5 late models showed up. And if there was a rule change we notified each driver effected and gave a two race grace period to comply.

I had a shady track in drag racing mess with me one time. I showed up and set the fastest time on my motorcycle. The track owner had an issue with my helmet all of a sudden. I had raced for years at many tracks with no issue. It was custom painted so the safety rating was no longer visible on the outer shell but was still tagged on the inner liner. They were clearly searching for anything to prevent me from racing that day. Tech went over my bike with a fine tooth comb. Luckily another competitor lent me a spare helmet of his. I won the race...supposed to be a $500 payout...wrote me a check for $100. His son was track champion there too and he was the one I beat in the final. I never went back there. Lots of home-cooking going on at that place. It's closed down now.
