In the only TV series made exclusively for the UK's sea angling community, Andy Ford heads to the Bridlington coastline to get a flavour of the European Open, a match that attracts in incredible 1300 competitors, making it one of the biggest matches of any kind anywhere.It's a 'match of two halves' over two days, and there's big money up for grabs, with Andy and his team tearing up and down the 40-mile stretch of coastline used. And as this is a match decided by the biggest fish, literally anyone can win it!

3:35 That sponge is actually a brilliant idea, soaked in crab oil. Never would have thought of that one myself to be honest. Tho I personally would use fish oil and sardine oil (with chunks of sardine in it to enhance the smell) being the n1 choice to me, but to each his taste. Depends on the kinda fish you're after too. I'm telling ya, fishermen are one of the smartest people on the planet. Lots of calculations being done, weather forecasting way before the weather channels, lots of online research, heck even math comes into play (how much CW, how strong the line must be, how strong the rod and reel must be..... etc). Much respect from me, for sure! PS: picked up fishing again after 35 years. Need to get those fisherman brain cells started again tho over here. Been striking blanks for almost 3 months now (except for that one tiny small sea bass I caught and had to release). LOL Cheers.

my neighbour went night fishing nr Easington one night and tripped while casting. reckons he cast about 30ft out and decided to leave it while he had a snack. he caught the only decent size cod of the night.

@mymiddleleg1 I have fished opens for years in ireland and since we have went catch and release they catch rate has greatly improved! I'm not denying that a trawler would catch more fish, but keeping fish to be taken back and weighted is just a waste! I know plenty on what im talkin about having been involved in the sea anglers conservation network for a number of years!

LOL.... and some do really bite too. Not kidding you, some actually do. You won't bleed out, you won't even bleed, but you'll feel their teeth, that's for sure. It's a little scare you need to get over, and that's it. Or just cut off their head before rigging them up onto your hooks. ;) Cheers.
