That seems like a very small propeller compared to the size of the ship, and no bow thrusters to help when docking.

Thrusters would have to be massive for a ship this size and most ports/terminals require tugs for arrivals and departures anyway.

@@jamesmurney1374 The small size of the propeller still confuses me. A fully loaded ship needs a great deal of power in facing high seas or contrary currents. Is the propeller spun much faster almost like an outboard motor, or there something about marine architecture and ship design that a landlubber like me doesn't understand?

@@zeekwolfe6251 With tankers and bulk carriers (as compared to container and passenger ships) schedule is less important than overall economy. Service speed on a big tanker like this is about 13kt and speed reduction due to weather and current are not a big deal over all. The ship slows down plenty in heavy weather but still keeps moving. The prop is plenty big, like 30 feet across to take are 30k hp, but so is the ship. 1098 feet long and 190 feet wide. Full load draft would be 70 feet.

Im sure the cost would be enormous but I wonder if aircraft paint would be slicker and more resistant to barnacles?

Maybe the biggest ship in that dry dock but there are many bigger Oil Tankers, Containers and cruise ships, etc.
