We were out at our testing range with our M110A2 self-propelled 203mm howitzer, when we encountered a shot that evidently had a bad propellant lot. An 8-inch Dual-Purpose Improved Conventional Munition became lodged about halfway down the bore. We had to use a special recovery vehicle to remove the M201 howitzer off the carriage and bring it back to our shop for assessment. We then had to use new advanced cold-cutting techniques to cut away the barrel, but not detonate the projectile lodged in the barrel. This very delicate 26 hour procedure was a complete success. The 203mm M509A1 DPICM projectile was revealed, de-fuzed, inerted, and is now completely safe. Unfortunately, this procedure completely destroyed our M201 howitzer. We are going to proceed with a process that we invented, whereas we reattach the barrel through a miniaturized robotic drone welder that we will carefully fly into the barrel and begin the reweld process. Unfortunately, we ended up with the center section of barrel that is 9-feet long that cannot be reused. The new "short-barreled howitzer" will be registered as an AOW with ATF, and we are planning on subcaling it to 45-70 government. We expect to have all of the work completed by the end of the day, and will be out shooting again as soon as the 45-70 ammo gets delivered. Wish us luck! Ok, everything above, as well as the video was all in good fun, and not to be taken seriously (obviously). We have a demiled 203mm/8-inch M201 howitzer, along with an inert/fired M509A1 projectile, so thought it would be pretty damn funny to simulate a ridiculous squib situation. Hope everyone has a great weekend! EDIT: forgot to include a cool little factoid..........the MASSIVE two-stage muzzle brake that you can see in the video is the largest ever used by the U.S. military. The brake alone weighs about 800 pounds!!!

We used to put a small charge of C4 in the breach then remotely detonate it. These sorts of rounds need to hit a certain speed for a period of time before they arm. 10 years U.S. Army, works and saves the barrel.
@Jonathan-gd7qt3 ай бұрын
Doesn't pass the smell test 1. the barrel has been torched in half. Not from gases erupting. But an acetylene torch. The round in untouched 2. The shell has rifling on it, so it must have been stuck in a barrel at one point. But the location doesn't make sense. It should be behind the torched part of the barrel. 3. This is probably a failed reenactment for part of what they did They couldn't remove the fuse. So they cut an already damaged barrel ahead of the round. They removed the fuse. Pulled the round out. Then they wedged the round back in. Put an inert fuse in it. Then they made this video.
