I had the opportunity to ride in one of these trucks when I was in Iceland about ten years ago. It's incredible the amount of engineering that goes into these rigs. The owner explained how it was built. Even describing how they had to move the front axle forward so the massive tires wouldn't catch on the back of the fender wells. They really are set up more for glacier work though. The vibration through the cabin at speed on paved roads was a little disconcerting, due to the fact those huge tires can be difficult to balance.

No. This is using these cars properly.. Not buying a big ass 4x4 to support your fat ass when you get your groceries ('Merica-style)
@JarkurYaroslav10 жыл бұрын
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know Ford wasn't an American company. Which was the purpose of my comment. Also I do the same thing with a 2000 F-250 V10, it see's snow and mud. Also off-roading isn't the purpose of Ford trucks, if you lived in America you'd know the majority of their advertisements are work based, as in hauling trailers and carrying heavy objects. The only Ford truck I've seen advertised as an off-road vehicle is the Ford Raptor. "Using properly" would assume you are using it for its intended purpose, which this is not its intended purpose. I am not saying these trucks can't handle this type of use in stock form, I speak from experience that they can. Buying groceries in a large 4x4 is not how people do things where I live. Yes we do go to the store with them, but that is not the only thing we use them for. I usually see that type of use from people who live in large cities. People come from Chicago to where I live and do this stuff. Is it "'Merica-style"? No, not by a long shot. The fact that you assume everyone in America lives in a city and is a fat-ass that needs a 4x4 to carry them around shows you know nothing. I dislike large cities because majority of people I meet from there don't understand how the world works. Much like you. I can only assume you hate Americans because of what our government does in other countries. I don't support our "intervention" in other countries affairs. But do not put me in the same category as some democrat idiot who is overweight and wants the government to take care of them.
@reverze552110 жыл бұрын
I said properly, not that this is their soul purpose. Obviously they are capable and advertised for more then just offroading. However there's just a shitload of people who buy these big cars and use them for nothing more than daily routines such as driving to work and doing groceries. And obviously not everyone in America, it just realy fits the 'Murica slang. So don't feel offended if you're not part of the group I was pointing out, im sure you can be a part of them.. Just eat more McD and never get out of your 4x4 again.

ReVerZe I don't know if you've actually been to the US, but the large trucks used where I live are used for hauling large trailers filled with horses, not something your average European van or truck can accomplish.

Henry Ford (founder of Ford Automobiles) and Adolf Hitler admired each other's achievements. Adolf Hitler kept a life-size portrait of Ford next to his desk. "I regard Henry Ford as my inspiration," In July 1938, four months after the German annexation of Austria, Ford was awarded the Grand Cross of the German Eagle, the highest medal awarded by Nazi Germany to foreigners. Ford disliked the administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and did not approve of U.S. involvement in the war. This is why i hate Ford

Every off-roader could learn from the Icelandic ideology of setting up an off-road vehicle. I have heard that Iceland has an issue with "treading lightly", so traveling off-road when the ground is frozen is much better, so the vehicles have to reflect that. I loved hearing a snippet of "Hotel California" at 3:00. Keep up the good work, guys. 73 de NV6R

The best looking 4x4s all seem to be from Iceland. Here in the US people would just put massive amounts of lift on a truck to fit those tires. then end up with a truck that flips onto its side the first time they go off road. Nice to see them being built the right way by making room for the tires to fit into the body instead of just lifting the body away from the wheels.

When going through those very complicated soft surfaces try this: Join several trucks with 3 mts long rigid bars with "U" joints attachments able to pull & push. With 3 trucks you get a 12 x 12 traction tandem, one of them will always get better grip and you will be able to sort obstacles impossibles for one vehicle.
