I once had an old Japanese man ask me in a store if I wanted to do Sumo. I sighed. "No, Ojiisan, I'm just fat."

It's hard to believe the Kenho we see at 14:53 (short hair) is the same wrestler we see at 16:19.

It's not the same wrestler, it's a completly different person, are you blind?
@fpink33 жыл бұрын
@@98Wahnsinn Hard to believe I got a response 7 months later. You are probably right...the video labels through me off. The two name labels are the same for both videos, so the uploader probably expected the viewer to choose the larger of the two wrestlers in each clip. Lots of very big sumo wrestlers started out not so big. I didn't really bother with "proving by eyesight" that the labeling is wrong.

No. The man on the right is former Iwasaki, now top division man Tobizaru (and one of the lightest at the top, at 134kg) The man on the left is Higonoryu Tomohiro (205 Kg at the time of the video) The labels are all wrong - the labels are the men in the next bout

There’s a fine line between having weight and still being able to move around. Konoshiki just kept adding weight, and near the end he couldn’t move around the ring. The last two rikishi somewhat have the combination of huge size, and the ability to move around.

I had a weight problem all my life. After watching this video I have come to the following conclusion. I should have been a Sumo wrestler.

It's surely not healthy to be that big but them Japanese rikishi are big from Chankonabi, rice, and other hi nutritional foods. There's a difference from a dude eating McDonald's then a traditional sumo diet.

Sumo is a fascinating sport. They live this lifestyle. Sadly, they to live shorter lives. Yes, they are healthy than an obese American of similar weight, because Sumo eat much healthier food and excercise constantly, but it still puts massive demands on their body. Superheavy weight athletes, including powerlifters and strongmen have similar lifespans. Yes, they are so strong, but this makes their heart work so much harder. It has to feed blood and oxygen to all of that muscle. I respect the sacrifice they are making however. They would rather live half as long for twice the glory.

I never believed in the idea of fat skinny muscular or not...... but my greatest indicator of a healthy person is their breathing and ability to control their cadence. That is the most underrated indicator of health. Why do you think monks talk about the breath so much?
