Mr. Chan is a national treasure. I really hope I get to see him one day and that he set me up with 35mm film camera gear.

Another great visit with Mr Chan, thanks. I can understand why he doesn't want to sell anything. He is so passionate about cameras and he has spent a lifetime collecting them, I would suspect he considers them as part of his family. Not only is he a collector, he knows so much about the cameras he has. This is knowledge that comes from years of collecting and researching. It's also knowledge that will be lost if he doesn't pass it on to the younger generation. I wonder if he ever comes down to his shop, grabs one of his cameras and goes out for the day to shoot some photos. I'm really looking forward to a video of the car collection. Thanks Again

Thanks. Yes I have many projects lined up with Mr.Chan. Due to Covid, I can’t visit there except under the strictest of conditions. It’s better to wait. I have photos of all his cars already though, and I’m excited to be able to do a ‘Photographers In Cars Getting Dim Sum’ series with Mr.Chan.

Mr. Chen indicated, the store will move to some place across the street. Imagine moving with all those gears
@bigheadtaco4 жыл бұрын
Not only that, he says he has more stock in storage. This represents about 10% of what he actually owns.
What is the current status of Mr. Chans store now? Man would be overjoyed to visit Hong Kong one day. Great footage thank you for taking us for a view of his precious museum.

The building has been slated for demolition for the past few years now. I think it’s now confirmed for 2021 and many of the shops are moving in across the street.

Is film camera in Hong Kong a bit cheaper than in Japan? Or just find another shop with cheaper but in good condition? The prices goes up from the past few years I think 😅😅😅
@bigheadtaco4 жыл бұрын
It’s cheaper because Hong Kong has low import duties and no sales tax.

Hong Kong is most definitely on my list.....I'm kinda sad that I didn't go prior to Britain leaving the island. I'm worried about all the incredible camera shops over there....can't imagine what I'd come home with...
@bigheadtaco4 жыл бұрын
Save up! Remember, no sales tax in Hong Kong, and lots of great camera shops clustered together. If you don’t like the price or selection of one shop, you can just walk 20 seconds further and check out someone else.

What is the best 6x9 according to M. Chan?
@bigheadtaco4 жыл бұрын
It’s probably a collapsible Voigtlander.... Ithink I may have another archived video on this subject that I’ve never posted.....
@harrycover91804 жыл бұрын
@@bigheadtaco that'd be great if you could post this video! If it's the Voigtlander bessa II 105mm f3.5 in either Skopar and Heliar lens, it's a nicely built camera but not so well designed and not very practical. In fact, it's not my preferred 6x9 folder.
@bigheadtaco4 жыл бұрын
I think what ‘the best’ is versus what is the most practical for most of us are different. I would recommend the Texas Leica for those looking for a solid performing 6 x 9 camera.
