Still a powerful film!

Friedkin was always a maverick. I remember the fury about this movie when it came out. Probably only made more profit as a result

No doubt. Incredible filmmaker, though.

Great job David on that interpretation. Very interesting...didn't think of it that way but you're spot on and makes me want to see the film again and look at it from that different prism

I was 16 years old when I first visited the NYC meatpacking district/Christopher Street leather clubs - My fave was The Anvil and what I experienced in those clubs was very much like the movie Visiting from Canada I made the trip to those clubs in NYC 1977 1981 - I Watch Cruising yearly to this day every time I need that feeling of the gritty NYC of that era .

Hear review of this movie not gay nothing

Hate this film. Such a harsh hard look at the dark side of the Gay World in the 1980s.
@cicolasnage56843 ай бұрын
Stop it already. Just because someone’s gay doesn’t abdicate them from a look at the dark side. Straight people have their dark sides on full display in films.

Jesus...This guy doesn't shut up. And I think some of his statements sound like opinions and not facts. Even if he is knowledgable about the movie and the history of it, doesn't mean he's correct. Plenty of people get things wrong no matter how well they think they know of the topic.

Lol, I feel bad for any co-commentarian he works with for that reason. But that's what you get with Del Valle. And he knows what he's talking about, from both the filming side and the culture. He's not an armchair historian.
@cicolasnage56843 ай бұрын
@@Spiritgummok but it’s funny how he says that all that kinky stuff didn’t go down in the clubs but then you have well known people that say freaky stuff like that went down. Plus all that surmising and theory just sounds like some kind of middling small town college film professor. Just because somebody can talk and has a plethora of pop culture knowledge doesn’t make them the preeminent grand arbiter of that subject. He’s more of a savant on theorizing if anything.
