I bought a pre owned Baja Telecaster recently, and it is now my ‘go to’ guitar. In spite of owning a very nice Gibson SG and other instruments, this is now my most playable guitar. Not only do you have the single coil pickups,but you can also get a humbucker sound from it. I love it!.

I don't know why I am here looking a Tele Baja After two years of practicing guitar with an Epi Casino I decided that i want a solid body (i don't prefer heavy metal) And i bought a second hand Gibson SG faded 2008 It's my only guitar now and I'm a happy man And I think ll be for long time So Why am I here? The reason is the neck pickup of a Tele If my skills goes as i hope, in the future i will put my hands on a Tele 😊

@asdaven12 жыл бұрын
The neck pickup on the Tele sounds alot like a Strat. I like both honestly. And stuck between what I like better. Leaning towards the Tele. When people play Strats they favor the neck pickups whereas with Teles they typically favor the bridge pickups. Teles have more of a country sound ...Strats are more blues and rock and roll but do the other very well also. The Strat was supposed to originally be an improvement to the Tele and be used for country but people stuck with the Tele which is a testament to that guitar. I dont own any Les Pauls. Love the unique sound of Fender guitars. Les Pauls play chords better than a Tele or Strat....much fatter tone. But my honest opinion and many with dissagree is on the single notes and solos...I feel that thickness makes the sound of the Les Paul muddy in that regard and a Strat or Tele is clearer sounding but the chords are never as full bodied sound. But to further knock Les Pauls, they are bulky and heavy. A Tele or Strat just fits the body better and more slender and feels better. A Les Paul while I admit are good guitars just never felt right to me even tho they are a very good guitar. So all of them are good guitar withs ups and downs just comes down to what matters to you most. I love the slender and rounded edge feel of the Strat better than a Tele. However, I like the Tele sound better and the Tele is still not big and bulky like a Les Paul and still feels good. I feel the Leo Fender built some pretty futuristic yet simple guitars for the time where Les Paul went the route of a more traditional bulky instrument.

What a great, relevant, and honest no-nonsense review. Angus's presentation and playing are excellent and that was a meaningful comparison of the guitars. The video shows clearly that either of the two modern guitars is really up to the job, so hat's off to Fender. Strange how one of the more straight-forward reviews on You Tube can also be one of the most interesting, just shows that if you do the basic things right the rest takes care of itself, and congrats to all involved in making this. Maybe hearing the guitars with a bit more gain might have been cool too, but no biggie, I think we all got a very good representation of the tonal characteristics of these three instruments. I'll take all three please! And all of those amps.

Depress the S1 switch, and balance the pickup selector between positions 2 and 3 (where position 1 is the bridge). Its actually the thinnest, brightest tone on the Baja, I think its full out of phase, as the S1 in positions 2 and 4 is half out of phase when depressed.

My first though after picking up the Baja in 2006 was that Fender made a big mistake pricing it as low as they did. I was taking that guitar home regarless of what the price was. It replaced my AVRI52 almost immediately. And the addition of the 4 position switch and the S1 just made the deal all that much sweeter.

The Baja is a great great guitar! Got an American Special and a beautiful Baja. It's as good as a Tele should sound and feel. The out of phase feature was very well thought and the 4th position with some powerful overdriven tube gives the Tele the "extra anger" some times I missed. This instrument was an absolute positive surprise!

I own a Baja and love it. The pickups are a great match. Great clean tone thru a Fender Super Champ X2 Ltd edition with a Greenback Celestion speaker. Also rocks with some OD/Distortion/ Fuzz with some chugga chugga. The Baja is made in the Mexico plant and the quality is really good. Fantastic price. My only thing was it didn't come with a hardshell case so I bought one when I purchased the guitar. I also spent extra money to upgrade the nut and had it Plek'd through Sweetwater music. Just a fantastic player for the money. Great Classic Fender Sound, Feel, and Looks.

Shots fired at the AVRI! Except for the neck pickup and it's influence, the difference in tone between the Baja and AVRI are within what I would expect between two AVRIs. The twisted tele in the Baja is not trying to be a tele neck pickup, so if the darker tele pickup is your thing then that's a factor for consideration. That's a lot to pay for one pickup, though. The 9.5" radius lacks in wall-swagger, but the 7.25" is a lot of sacrifice for a little utility in chording. The U is the U. If you're one of the few people that it comes natural to, there's not much to sell the Baja on there. Switching options put another blade in the knife without compromising what's already there. Otherwise, a nicely sorted 52 reissue, made by the best craftsmen in a factory with 30+ years of history. They put the name of their state on it. That means something to people that work with their hands.

Very nice and revealing shootout. Been playing since my 14's, I'm 38 now. I feel guilty as my expectations were something else, maybe I don't know a thing, but yes the original looks awesome, but the sound compared to the other two, in my personal opinion did not lived up to the hype. The baja is awesome, my next guitar. The reissue sure does not sound $1300 more than the Baja. in fact I really liked the mid range and crudiness of the Baja the most...
@johnnyWas669 жыл бұрын
its true that the 52 reissue and baja is pretty Close in sound, though the baja wiring is quite something, nevertheless i tried out both in my local shop, and i feel that the 52 reissue is better in playability.....
@neworksound9 жыл бұрын
Well it depends how are they setup.What did you not like about the playability of the Baja. I did took the plunge, and I now own the Baja. I love it. I did some mods to it though. I switched the ping tunners for gotoh vintage locking tunners, switched the ashtray-3 saddle set for gotoh modern bridge plate with 6 saddles, and did full cavity shielding and an awesome setup. The result is a workhorse and one of my favorite guitars I've ever own/played. I really like the sound of the baja pickups, they have a little more bite to my ears than the ones on the americans. Also the poly finish is quite sexy in a vintagy way. I don't care much for the "phased sounds" that the s1 switch offers, but the 4 position with the 2 pickups in series is really nice, more thick, not totally humbuckery, but very fat and creamy. I use it a lot for clean, countryesque leads. On the soft v neck, yes I did found it on the chunky side, as my preference till now for thinner necks, however, after getting a feel for it, now I find it is really comfortable and fast... even though I have pretty small hands!

Honestly, the Baja is awesome. It's about $700 here in the USA, and it's worth it to own. I may get one of them in the future. It's about $300-500 less than the first level of American made Teles, and it sounds as good or even better than some of those in the low $1000 price range. I love it. If you didn't know it was MIM, you probably couldn't guess it just hearing it.

I have to agree. I've had my Baja for 18 months and the sound is CRAZY good. And yes i've owned $7000 les paul guitars. It's my go to in many cases. I also added Evertune bridge... it's killer
@panigaletricolore58889 жыл бұрын
TwoAxeMen Don't agree at all. Use your ears. The Baja is a nice guitar, but it's far from a real great guitar. I sold mine, just couldn't get the real tele sound out of it, to me it's not worth 700 dollars at all. I own 14 Tele's, I'm a Teleholic. The case with mexican guitars in general is that the pick ups are loud, many people confuse loud pick ups with good pick ups.

Panigale Tricolore the Baja has the same exact pickups as the custom shop teles.. would you say that they also don't have a real tele sound?
@panigaletricolore58889 жыл бұрын
tod wisenbaker Not correct. The Baja comes with 'production version' pick ups of a Custom Shop Broadcaster and a Custom Shop Twisted Tele pick up. I've seen with my own eyes how Custom Shop pick ups are made, a friend of mine works at the Fender Custom Shop, and believe me: that's not the way these Baja pick ups are made and put together. Exactly the reason why I sold mine. Massive difference in sound to a real die-hard Tele-holic. Last month I did this test with some friend of mine, one owns a Custom Shop guitar, the other two brought in their Baja, I could tell the production Custom Shop pick ups from the real Custom Shop pick ups every single time, blinded. 10 out of 10. As I said before; the Baja is a real good guitar, I bought one yesterday for my little cousin, but it doesn't compare with an American made Custom Shop or an American Vintage Tele in any way. Mexican guitars just aren't the whole deal, they're good but it's always 'close but not there'. But who am I to say what others hear, and visa versa, if you don't hear it it will save you a lot of money and we're all happy. That's what counts. I just tell you what I hear, know and think.

Considering the cost difference and tone differences not being too far off from each other and you get more with the Baja Tele it's a no brainer. I love telecasters, i own 2 of them and my baja tele is ALWAYS my go to guitar. It fills in everywhere from hard rock, jazz, blues, country and more plus it's almost $700 cheaper than the 52' reissue i'd say go with the Baja although there is a MIM 52' reissue that might be a more fair comparison

so what do you think guys about the baja tele ? i am planing to buy one
@somebodyelseuk9 жыл бұрын
+Abdul Attar Try before you buy. I've had mine 4 years. If you want a Tele, the neck shape suits you and you like the sounds, they're the best Tele ever made (after the Levinson Blade). If you just want a Tele shaped guitar, buy the Squier CV Tele and mod to taste - there's little point in buying any other Tele if you're going to end up changing something.

+Abdul Attar I just got one this week. LOVE IT. I compared it against the '52 MIA reissue and thought them close enough that the extra $1250 was completely crazy. Both have fantastic necks. The intonation and playability of my new Baja is fantastic for a guitar of any price. My other option was the Road Worn. I couldn't find one to play but an owner told me it does NOT have that same awesome thick neck. While that neck is hefty, it is not wide, so wrapping your thumb around and playing super clean bar chords is dead easy. Try it, I think you'll like it a lot.

My recommendation is to not play everything on one guitar and then another. Instead, start with the bridge pickup on one guitar and play a 3 second lick. Then go to the next and then the next on the same pickup position. Otherwise, no one can remember the tones and hear exactly the difference.

Mikxe Wiyrtxz I cant understand why people can’t figure that out. They all sounded good but I can’t compare the first demo with the third.
