Poor little guy is incredibly stressed…just imagine removing a 3 year old from its parents..I know it’s the purpose of him to start out this way..but as an animal lover it sure does hurt my heart to see him so crouched and scared. Blessings ❤

Until they are about two they really need constant supervision. Either from older dogs or their humans to learn what is expected of them.

Everything is new and different to him. He is young and scared. He needs consistency, patience, and time to adjust. It could take a year for him to be a really useful, fully trained, guardian dog. Neutering him will also be a benefit when it comes to behavior. Walking him around the boundaries, supervision, slow introductions to livestock, comfortable accommodations for him outside. Let him watch you do chores and come to understand your routine.

I've always had Boxers from the time I was a child to now, I'm 65. But this summer a coworker of my wife had three boys no one wanted from a litter of eight Australian Shepherds, they were the plain ones with very little color. We got him at no cost. He was so smart and I was so impressed, we went and bought him a girl friend. We now have six dogs, the two Aussies, a Boxer, two little terrier mix and a Golden rescue.

Oh Heck Mike, I loved watching ASLAN learn his duties at his new home. He came around to "dog on duty" pretty quick. I waited to see him accept his first assignment in the chicken yard. And... then you mentioned that would be a video of "Aslan Part 2". I can't hardly wait! I feel he will be a real asset to your farm and was glad to see your friends who bred the dog assisting in his acclimation.

We have 3 GP LGD. Get him used to you. Then teach him to walk on a leash. Teach him name recall. We also taught ours sit and stay to use when we are opening gates and don’t want them leaving or rushing through. We later taught ours “ It’s OK. That’s enough” when ours alert and we need them to get quiet again. Take him with you for all your chores. He learns to care about you and what you care about. And he will go through a teen age rebellious stage between 1-2 years where you may have to retrain behaviors or guide him to stop. But after about 2 years, they figure out their role very quickly and though they won’t obey commands like “fetch” or “play dead” or other things they don’t understand the reason for, they are very trainable with lots of patience and time for their guardian role.

Aslan Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia series. Unlike any other character in the Narnian series, Aslan appears in all seven chronicles. Aslan is depicted as a talking lion and is described as the King of Beasts, the son of the Emperor-Over-the-Sea, and the King above all High Kings in Narnia.

Oh, I love pugs. They are so cute but I have the bigger version of them. I have two English bulldogs miss Ellie and Freddy he is my medical service dog. He detect my diabetes when my sugars go crazy and he will want me before I even notice it and I will do what I have to do to keep myself from having anything go wrong, but he is by my side, 24 seven. He sleeps next to me in the bed and I mean very close. He loves his mommy, sometimes even climbs under the covers with me, the little girl she likes the floor she won’t come up here at all. Actually she’s 11 years old now and the boy he’s just 5 1/2 he’s still a baby, but there is a reason behind TheBulldog my husband was a Marine and I had no dogs at all when he was alive, but when he passed away, I got my very first bulldog to keep the Marine Corps alive at my home and then I volunteered for a bulldog rescue and I was a foster mommy for 15 bulldogs throughout 10 years and I wound up adopting five of those babies plus buying my first one, which was the price was crazy what they want for an animal since the adoption price for fostering animals was a quarter of what I would’ve paid for a puppy from a breeder but anyways my home has been filled with both dogs ever since my husband‘s passing and I grew up with all kinds of dogs growing up from Chihuahuas to Saint Bernards, huskies, beagles, and all those Heinz 57 months that the neighbors dog would have puppies

He is going to be a great worker. This last spring son brought home several heeler pups after their peep passed. They were pretty feral, living alone on the farm, so we each worked with one after catching them. The first week here mine removed some fence so she could get after the fox from neighboring chickens. The next day she killed a six foot snake. It takes some thought to realize what they may be after. They learn from parents.

We’re happy for you guys with your new pup. He will definitely do his job when needed. We have 6 LGD’s on our farm. 2 cover the Katahdin sheep spanning just over 100-acres and the other 4 cover our Kiko goats on 50 acres of rough mountain ground. Never lost a goat or lamb to a predator yet. The dogs were born outside in the livestock paddocks and have lived with the livestock ever since. We give them lots of love and hugs while we’re out working, but the dogs stay with the animals when we leave. And they respect electric fence 100%. A pinch of peanut butter on the hot-wire at various points around the fence and the dogs AND local predators will all learn to respect it in no time.

Mike and Lacey, you might try putting up a few metal pinwheels (yard art) in the chicken pens; they help in that they are moving with even the slightest breeze to further hinder aerial predators. You can move them around when you move the chickens and ducks also.

Love your channel and watching your family and homesteading adventures! Congratulations on your new guard dog. I just wanted to share this with you and other viewers. We have lived in the country for 48 years, raised our children on garden food and raising animals ect., had dogs , horses, chickens, my husband was a farm boy. We have neighbors that 4 years ago got a great Pyranees dog and it has been a nightmare for us. The dog barks all night long. Until I just saw your video now I understand why he barks all the time, because that is what he is supposed to do to guard your property. They have it as a pet. No homestead or anything. Very frustrating for our neighbors and us. We get no sleep, our neighbors sleep with ear plugs, another gives their children something so they can sleep. I hope people get educated from your video about your guard dog and why you have him and it doesn't cause problems with your neighborhood. Blessings to your family.
