I think some of the TSA just want's to steal your stuff !
@TopDog8762Ай бұрын
It certainly feels that way.
@GromMolotokАй бұрын
I saw an article about this years ago. Stealing from luggage was common even in the pre-TSA days. The writer interviewed baggage handlers and theft victims alike. And TSA-approved locks have made it even easier to break into luggage seamlessly. I think I'll mail myself EDC for my next family visit.

Thanks, JB. I also ran into it at my second presidential library that are staffed by Secret Service… but they allowed me to go back to my vehicle to put the knife in my car, not that far away in the parking lot.

Great video. Several years ago I went to the airshow in Kansas City. I had my pocket knife on me. When I realized they had metal detectors I put it a tree nearby. When I got back it was still there.

Great food for though. Dewalt also has a new pocket knife that comes in at $15ish & could probably be picked up quite easily. There are plenty of cheap knives available for a weekend getaway I guess. Thanks for this topic.

great topic and advice, you hit on something I have long believed in an interesting way, I believe that some one who intentionally 'temps' someone to do wrong, is themselves almost or as guilty as the person who then does wrong......(note the intentional, but if you can make things less tempting, you should...)

Good thoughts JB. You know me and how driving isn't so much an option so been having to find things that are still useful for me (and also just the mental enjoyment I get from having knives on me). Actually traveling next week to see my brother in the greater Portland area! Short trip, though - trying to save some PTO.

We recently took our boys to the ringling brothers circus. The rent-a-cop at the door flipped out over the little Niteize DoohicKey multi tool I had on my key ring. He went on a total power trip. He told me if I went to put it in my car he wouldn't let me back in. Mind you we had only parked 30 feet from the entrance we were using. So it's not like he couldn't watch me put it in the car. After I was in the venue I stopped the full time security for the arena and told them what had happened. They asked me which entrance this was and 5 minutes later I had me multi tool back. They apologized and said they would be dealing with him. I fly regularly for work, so I am very mindful of what I can and can't take through security. I 100% check a bag so I can have all my toys with me!

I think you should also be fine having one of the folding utility knives like the Oknife "Otacle U1 Folding Pocket Utility Knife" and just remove and throw out the blade before going through security. Then just find a Walmart or hardware store to replace it. They shouldn't be able to take it without a blade.
@BigRedEDCАй бұрын
As long as there isnt a blade. I think it may still raise questions
