People who get offended that easily need to grow a pair and shut up. It is merely impossible to avoid offensive/evil language and personalities. If the first amendment is abolished how are we supposed to communicate? Let alone be ourselves?

Americans should "stand-up and speak-out" not "sit-down and shut-up". American public schools don't even teach CIVIC's anymore, it's no wonder most young people have no idea what the 1st Amendment means.
@chandlersleziak64164 жыл бұрын

What I want to know is this: do private citizens have a leg to stand on if they don't like you using profanity in conversation, assuming you're not inciting violence or committing libel or slander? I'm talking about using F-bombs in the normal course of conversation.
@MyArmsWillStretch8 жыл бұрын
Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer! This is just my understanding... The first amendment protects an individual from the government. Freedom of speech does not protect individuals from individuals. Beyond that cursing is rarely considered a crime, unless it can be deemed as harassment, abusive or threatening. Also "Fighting Words" (yes an actual term), which is deemed as "words that would invoke, or are likely to invoke a fight," may constitute legal action. So unless you're actually threatening someone probably not. BUT if you're on private/public property and being disorderly that may fall into disorderly conduct. But F-bombs are generally not legally criminal unless they accompany a threat of harm.

Why does KZbin keep just getting slower and worse?
@KevZen20009 жыл бұрын
JT7868 1.They compress videos, and data to save space, which decreases the quality of videos. Compression effects video quality, which is why 720P looks at about the same as 1080P on many videos. 2. KZbin has a lot of traffic, even more than Google can update, even if they try. The more traffic, the more burdensome on the servers, and hence less performance in regards to speed, and other aspects.

Even though you have gone through your explanation of the 1st amendment, I'm still confused why we have so many variations or opinions of the meaning. The founding fathers wrote it in it's most simple form. This so called history lesson about Thomas Jefferson you gave is meaningless. Has nothing to do with the 1st Amendment. Just explain in simple terms what the citizens of America can do and can't do. And, what our government whether if it's the federal government of state government can do and can't do with regards to the 1st amendment !
@FlashToso10 жыл бұрын
The "simple terms" are not adequate because of people insisting upon their own interpretation. That causes "LOOPHOLES". The present debate over the "EQUAL PAY" law from the 1960s being revisited to apply to women! English like any language has ambiguities allowing different interpretations. What we need is people to understand simple COMMUNICATION. It is not good enough to say what you mean. People must verify that what is heard is what is intended. Mass communication, like reading and writing leaves that part out. We end up talking "AT" instead of "WITH" each other. Our schools teach language skills but not communication skills. The speaker and listener must agree that the listener understands the speaker before meaningful opinions about the message can be formed and discussed. We must also understand that debates are intended as persuasion toward a particular viewpoint. Discussion exchanges ideas in order to improve understanding of an issue to allow more meaningful opinions. CONGRESS prefers debate over discussion which contributes greatly to its dysfunction.
