I love it when you let the sounds of machinery "do the talking"! All too often, folks cover the sounds of the big tractors with stupid Euro-Dance "music" which I usually have to mute. Instead of a Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down button, they need "Love/Hate/Eh" buttons.
@bigtractorpower6 жыл бұрын
I agree the best music is the music the engine makes. Thank you for watching.

I don't know, 3 weeks or more watching these silage videos. More then I've ever watched before. Thinking I could kinda get into this chopping thing. Very cool.

It’s one of my favorite machines to film. Two more new chopping videos to go plus Cow Chow part 2 to 4. Then corn shelling.

Agree. For unknown reasons, there is something interesting about watching the silage blown out of the spout, non-stop. Yes, seen it many times, but it never gets old (e.g. watching a fire burn).

Yeah I like hearing that chopper sound.

Good Cow Chow Corn Chopping. 1st ag video of the am. Goes well with a cup or two with coffee and a corn cob pipe filled with my favorite tobacco mac baren mixture scottish blend sitting back enjoying this multi part segment. The cattle has something to look forward to for the year. Love BTP video's !

Hey BTP, great video as always. You know, it really baffles me that it takes over 600hp to power an 8 row chopper head. Yet at the same time that kind of hp can pull a 40-60ft plow thrgh the ground at 6mph.
@bigtractorpower6 жыл бұрын
It takes allot of power to chop up the material. The machine is craning 25ft of standing crop inside a small area to process it. The chopper will cut and process 10 tons in 2 minutes. Deere has a 925 hp model 9900 chopper on the way. Krone has an 1,100 hp model that can chop 14 rows.

Do you think you'll ever get a chance to see that 20-row Kemper head in action and film it? I've seen a few clips of it here on other channels. It'd be quite the experience if it was ever seen working in the States.

Thanks for watching. It would be neat to film harvest in Montana sometime. I went to Big Sandy, MT in 2007 and saw some combines harvesting. It’s a great state. I have some other travel plans for filming harvest this year but I do hope to get back to Montana some day.

Why do they cut so high off the ground these days? I used to cut silage 20 years ago , if I cut that high off the ground the farmer would run me off and find someone else to cut it! Just something I’ve noticed as the choppers got bigger!
@bigtractorpower6 жыл бұрын
This farm double crops sorghum for silage right behind the choppers. The stalks help the new seeding.

@brentfarrow81256 жыл бұрын
Does that farmer prefer the trailer type or the wagon type and do they hold about the same?😎
@bigtractorpower6 жыл бұрын
I have often wondered that. They have six of the wagon style and two of the trailer type. I am not sure why they use two styles. They all hold 10 tons. The wagons are handy because they can hook onto a chopper and run behind it to open fields.

It doesn't look like any of those tractors have front suspension? They look very bouncy. I'm wondering why you would spend so much money on a tractor and not get suspension?
@bigtractorpower6 жыл бұрын
This farm trades tractors each year so the options are most often what the John Deere dealer wants to sell to the next customer.

Europe makes fun of our beef and milk,especially Italy,cows eat GRASS and NOT CORN. I realize that the farmers have to cut corners on production cost as much as possible,but this hurts exports too on beef and milk to Europe to what degree,I'm not 100% certain.
@bigtractorpower6 жыл бұрын
I think European farming is neat to watch. Farms just do it different in the U.S. than Europe. Both ways are ok. You just have so what works best for your area. Farms have been putting up corn silage for cows in the U.S. for well over a 100 years. They used to cut and buns it at the field and chop it at the silo.
@4gauge106 жыл бұрын
@John W Only here North America we feed our cows corn silage, everywhere else they eat regular grass.
@4gauge106 жыл бұрын
@@bigtractorpower Oh I know,my dad used to help his neighbor with corn silage harvest long before I was taking my first breath of air. B.T.P.If you ever take a trip to Europe(Italy in particular)try eating a steak there you won't go back to eating steak here in the states,at least that's what all my friends say that have went there.The flavor is very different then anything you have ever tasted before.
