The sensors in your old mirror are to pickup headlights of oncoming traffic to auto dim your highbeams and the sensor facing aft will dim the mirror so that the rear approaching headlights won't be as blinding in the mirror.

This is the exact video I was waiting for. I hope you do an update on it a few months from now because we all know how electronics can be after running a few months.

How much better would the rear camera be if it was mounted outside and not looking through a dark tinted rear window?

Also, for your superduty, you also have some pass through wire behind the passenger kick panel. They can be hidden, and they end up near the battery.

Great video! I have already placed this in my cart on Amazon. I was expecting the cost to be twice as much when I started watching the video. Thank you for posting this!!

The GPS sensor does not need to be outside the cab. I would recommend mounting it on the dash near the windshield (I put it on the passenger side). I am not sure if the GPS sensor would hold up in the weather if mounted outside the cab. As far as the clarity at night with the rear view camera, this might be due to the fact that it is behind the tinted rear window. If you would route it to the outside (you can go through the 3rd brake light hole) you should get much better result. My 840 surely has better clarity at night than what your video showed.

That little dot on the mirror might be an indicator light to let you know the auto-dimming is active. One of my vehicles has a green light at about that spot. The front one is likely the light sensor to turn it on and off based on the level of light.

Did you loose auto dimming on the drivers outside rear view mirror? (Because of the unplugged inside rear view mirror)

Let us know how it works when sitting in full sunlight for hours. Cam/screens notoriously don’t like heat….

Thanks for the video. I have been trying to decide which dashcam to go with and this looks like it may be what I am looking for(ish). Little off topic, now that I have a travel trailer, is there such a dashcam setup out there that I can place a camera on the rear of my travel trailer? I am always afraid of being slammed in the rear and not having video coverage. I purchased the ROAMER 1 last year and am nervous when I drive through certain cities/town.

I have a 2019 gmc 3500hd Denali with onstar built into my mirror but it isn't the video mirror. I was wondering if you thought I could mount the wolfbox on it without causing any issues with the onstar functions.
@ryanpickett5747Ай бұрын
so what about hooking up a camera on the back of your trailer and use the wolf box as the monitor
@BTBRVReviewsАй бұрын
I probably wouldn't do that, just because it would be a pain switching back to a rear camera on the truck when you're not towing a trailer.
@edwinfhartmanАй бұрын
I have done this by running a second line to the hitch area and installed a weather proof plug there, the running the line from the tongue of the trailer all the way to the back. At the mirror, I just have to switch the plug for the camera after hooking up or unhooking, very convenient and it makes the mirror more versatile and actually useful when towing!

I got a Toyota Tundra 24 but I have a rear view , would you recommend mounting the rear view with the Wolfbox to the front grille to get a front view ? Or another product that would do the trick for front view i.e off roading advantage

@maudify how does the back up camera do at night in reverse with back up lights
@cavemanmancave4588Ай бұрын
Just an FYI, 90% of that rear view camera not working is more than likely because it’s inside your window. It would literally take two seconds to double face tape that below your third light and you wouldn’t even be able to tell I would run it down through the vent in the back of the cab and then around the window double face taped that little bracket to your window the very top right below your third brake light
@anthonyvisk1317Ай бұрын
Do you the link to the bracket you used for the back facing camera?

How did you run the cable to the rear camera?

How long is the cable to the rear camera? I have a topper on my F250 w/ 6.9’ bed. Is there enough cable to run it all the way back there?
@jlokanisАй бұрын
I have the exact same question. I just ordered a cap for our F350 and thought this might be a good option to improve rear visibility.
@acdiiАй бұрын
If not, you can order a longer cable. Measure from the tailgate down to the bed, across half the bed, down the side to the A pillar and up to the mirror. I think the one in the box is 34' and I think they have a 43' one.

Interesting. But why do we have to have all this tech? We as a society are in love way too much with technology. We are getting far too reliant on it. Yes it makes things easier and more convenient I know, but what ever happened to the old days of just enjoying the driving experience as things used to be. Call me a purist….. guilty as charged.
