Thanks for the video. I had to leave climbing because of injuries. I was 47. I put my creative energies in other places but never forgot the good times of climbing, the rock, the air, the feeling, and i always thought i would go back to climbing although it never happened . Now at 65 i'm thinking of it again. Looking for easy cracks.

Stay away from cracks and you won't be injured.....probably

I have met Beth a few times at Ironworks in Berkeley, and right now this video is really personal, as I have a major shoulder injury, I do not know if or how I will recover. I don't have sponsors or money to hang out in a beautiful home cooking. This reminds me, I haven't seen Hans Florine since he broke his ankle in 17 places.

The timing of this is perfect for me as i haven't been able to climb for 8 weeks. I've really been struggling recently with staying positive with my injury as the healing process hasn't been as steady as i want. It really helps to hear your story, Beth. Thank you :)

I had an industrial accident 27 years ago where i crushed 3 disks in my spine and was lucky to still walk. The road to recovery is very hard when you are deemed worthless by everyone around you, But me being a mountaineer for 20 years back then was having None of it" I never trusted them useless docs anyway" And 10 years later i still climb ice and rock, Pain is real but sometimes that a climber has to get use to it to get what he wants in life, Some people are here to suffer more than others, I guess i am just one of them.

As someone being hindered climbing by injury for some months now I can feel your pain. I really wouldn't wanna go through some years of such a period - chapeau for you enduring this and I hope we once meet in life! Coincidences are a thing :-)

This gives me some hope! I'm been out with a similar shoulder injury for the past 8 months and almost to the point of giving up climbing. I've replaced my climbing with other outdoor activities, but it's nothing like a nice sport rooute. I haven't seen much PT progress so far, but it's nice to know that it's taken others a long (too long!) time to recover as well. Not that that's a good thing, but it brings hope of recovery to the whole situation.

You go girl, you're such an amazing climber and you are so inspirational. The fact that you are climbing back (so to speak) is just proof of your total B.A.M.F. status.

Yeah for me its been about 8 months on the recovery process. Reinjured my finger last month though pacing myself improperly :/ Ive actually had this injury for about a year though. I agree, the same emotions and thoughts that were shown in this video have gone through my head. Definitely puts me back in the optimism track though.

Sun, wind, and emotions age the skin much faster than simple time. Outdoor climbers, especially poor ones living in cars, etc., no tent, look way older than you think they should. I have a climber friend who is 18 and looks 60.

I say adultery/divorce is Simply aweful. Climbing is an activity in life not life itself. Who you are is defined by who you are when you are not climbing or doing other things that gain applause or popularity. Who you are is reflected in your Character, virtues, morality, ...- these are the positive attributes of a good person. YOu can be totally immoral and a evil person and yet be a good climber... that doesn't make you a great person. You can be totally Unaccomplished nobody and be an awesome person. Climbing is fun, its an activity, but its NOt life unless you don't have one! ie.... there is more to life than just climbing
