How to Install A Plug For Shore Power on Your Trailer

Installing an outlet on the outside of your trailer allows you to work inside with the doors shut. This can be especially important during cold weather uses while ice fishing.

You could wire it just like you would a garage but need to be careful about daisy chaining to far with to many just like you would need to In a garage

Long long time ago....search on Amazon under leviton was easy to find

Wrap some electrical tape around the entire outlet, cover all the screws that you could attach wires to....a couple passes with the tape. Because short circuits suck!

Do you have the levitron part numbers for what you used on this project? What gauge wire did you use?

I dont....but easy search on Amazon. Match wires to voltage being used with plug, etc. When in doubt go up a size

Just curious. Why didn't you install a breaker? I know that the power cord you are plugging from is connected to a breaker, but any downsides to not having a breaker on the trailer side? Thank you for the video and your time.

I'm no electrician....but the goal was to just have a way to keep the trailer locked and get power inside...really no different than if we had the door open and had the same cord going in. You could use a outlet like you find in bathrooms instead of what I did, but my electrician buddies said they didn't recommend it
