The latest episode depicting the every day life on board an ERRV (Emergency Response & rescue Vessel) in the North Sea

This looks exactly like my fire dept jobs. cleaning hose. folding hose. Driving the big ladder truck. working to connect things in cold wet dark frozen 40 mph winds , waiting for the wrecker or my automobile frame cutter. Washing trucks and “buses” (ambulances), constantly checking the supplies. Always tuning and cleaning the engines. Rotating and changing tires ( those guys are huge!) , fitting chains. Oiling anything that can be reached. Keeping 30 radios charged. on and on... and training constantly .New equipment. Trucks going to refit so we are down a vehicle. And then onto our Hudson River equipment. ... I LOVED my job.

Long, slow, days, maybe weeks, (wishful thinking!) of absolute routine interspersed with heart-stopping, blood-freezing escapades, (rescues). LOL One thing first responders share with soldiers is that. The other, both head for the sounds of trouble. Appreciate everything you folks do! Would love to be able to raise a pint with y'all sometime, if you ever get to the U.S. after the world comes out of quarantine/lockdown. I am not going to get into the civil unrest going on. Hopefully, by the time your two month tour is over, things will be calm, again. Stay safe and healthy!✌😺

I worked on the rigs for a couple years in the Gulf of Mexico. It sucked bad always wished I was on one of the boats. The labor is brutal on the rigs.

This is an ERRV (Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel). It’s always surprised me that there are so few of these type of vessels in the American oil fields.

Ya got to have some balls to be on the little boat.
@PhoenixLyon4 жыл бұрын
@@Bigwavemaster1 They rely on the U.S.Coast Guard for needed assistance. The CG has helicopters and several bases around the Gulf of Mexico, and all the coasts. I imagine Mexico has something in place for their interests in the Gulf.
@PhoenixLyon4 жыл бұрын
I don't know the footage on the small boat, but it has the same design as the Coast Guard 44ft. Search and Rescue (SAR) boats, minus the sweet turbine engine. The design of the 44ft. boats allows them to do a complete roll, and right themselves. They are used in heavy seas for.that reason. In the U.S., generally the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and from Massachusetts, up to the north eastern states, and of course, the Great Lakes.✌😺

I worked on an ERRV in the early 1980's specifically built for the task like this one. I look at the converted trawlers I see that after Piper Alpha seemed to be the solution for standby vessels and I just shook my head.
@Bigwavemaster14 жыл бұрын
It was Piper Alpha that changed the industry. The Cullen Report laid out strict guidelines which meant that most converted trawlers were no longer acceptable.

5 dislikes? 5 Arseholes...your engineering department had those engines humming nicely, that exhaust and engine beat is music to the ears. Glad you still rock the Destination Fucked shirt, I need one myself now, I joined the gym, had my first session and am officially at that same destination, I have muscles and even bones I never knew existed let alone gave you the good news after you abuse them in the gym. Question, you can't take Ollie Collie onboard so do you have a ships cat? Have a safe one fellas and stay in touch, we are heading into winter here in Oz and last week had a cold front that gave us 5 inches of snow in the Snowy Mountains and the Victorian snowfields at Hotham. Going to be a cold one methinks.
@Bigwavemaster15 жыл бұрын
The 5 dislikes. Well, you can't please all of the people all of the time. Probably the same people checking in each time just to give it the thumbs down. One will be an ex-crew member who tried to get the FB page shut down. He's a bitter, twisted little fucker. I don't do gyms, prefer to get out on deck and do some work or spend my days out with Ollie Collie. Not allowed to have pets on board. :(
