I belong from eastern UP. When my nana was 16 yrs old he went to visit his maternal grandmother. But a few villagers kidnapped him because he was 6ft tall and a very handsome fair skinned young boy. My nana's father used to work in kolkata so there was adequate wealth. So he was also kidnapped for 'pakdawa vivah'. 😂 He was so scared but he gained his strength during the haldi ceremony and asked people for permission to go pee. He then went down to pee and literally ran away from there and straight landed at his home in langoti. 😂

3 years back I was attending a relative’s wedding in Rajgir region. I had only visited Rajgir prior once when I was a kid. I did not have any idea about this sort of wedding. So when I visited Rajgir 3 years ago, my dad introduced me to one of his relative who was kidnapped and married in a similar fashion back in 90’s. Fast forward to the day of barat, I was on another car with strangers. All the cars were on the highway when all of a sudden, the car in which I was travelling took a detour onto a kutcha road. Now, since this story of kidnapping was fresh in my mind, I was literally shitting myself. I sent emergency messages and location to my friends😂😂😂. But it turned out that our car had taken a wrong turn due to fog in December. But i was really scared.

I am from Jharkhand and during my engineering college days in a college in Jharkhand in 2017, I had an acquaintance from Begusarai, Bihar. He was telling me about the good culture and food that they have in his city. I jokingly said to him, "Bro, take me to Begusarai, once!", and he replied, "Bhai, agar tumko le gaye apne saath, to tumko kidnap krke tmhara kisi k bhi saath shaadi kara diya jayega" (Bro, if I take you with me, you will be kidnapped and forcefully married to anyone). Yeah because the brother does not want to give property share to his sister and does not want her to come back. Men play, after taking dowry make women bear kids against forcing them to stay with their parents, leave their parents, use marriage not give anything to them. Then stop sending your sister to strangers' homes, homes do not do household work. Men have been asking for dowry for centuries even without a government job. Sati paths were done in the area so their sister does not get any share in ancestral property. Earning high income also benefits men more than their wives, they make their wives after taking hefty dowry. I do not see men giving dowry to women being lower rank than her. Leaving their parent taking care of her parent. Saw many stat unemployed after marriage and do not even do household work.

Then why Bihari and Indian go for better job and better country . Women leaving her parent home will expect better home because it is easy adjust in better place than worst than. Then do expect them to.leave their parent and take care of your. Divide household work, childcare responsibility. No restriction of hours of working and specializing women in clothes it restrict the kind of work and location they can work. I'm from district Bhojpur that is adjacent to Patna and even I have never heard of it. But our districts are much more developed compared to some distant districts in Bihar and there's a high chance that these things are fairly common in those districts although we don't hear it often because these type of sensitive topics are suppressed and not reported due to social pressure.

My uncle is a victim of pakadua vivah. He get married to a then gangstar and now a politician's daughter. My grandfather had 10 bighas of land and was headmaster that's why they kidnapped my uncle even though he was unemployed at that time. But now my uncle- aunt is living happily together and they have a son and a daughter.

As a bihari girl I would say main reason for this is high demanding dowry in bihar.... Becoz in bihar without dowry marrige is not possible...even a poor farmer who have nothing to give as dowry, he has to arrange dowry anyhow like taking loan from people and bank.. And parents of boy feel proud to take high dowry as money value of their son... Goverment job boy' s parents demand high dowry as all money spend by them on their son is to compensate from girls parents... What about girls.. Her parents also spend money on their study and abringing even than they have to arrange money for dowry and marrige... Forced marrige cannot stop untill boy's parents not understand the true marrige concept... Dowry system should be strictly stop...

Mere apne ghar m meri didi ka sadi k time pr , mangalsutra k time pr vo log piche hat gye kahe ki phle 50k rupees jo baki tha vo complete kro tb sadi karenge , nhi to sadi nhi hoga. Total dowry given = 28 lakh
