Bike Adventure 15 - 5 Borough Bike Tour 2023

People don't care/ pay attention to bike lanes / cyclists.... I'm an asshole to people who don't care about safety. NYC born and raised. Most of these incidents can be avoided if they paid attention. Look before you cross, put your phone away while crossing / driving or biking.
( Since people don't have common sense )
I don't yell at people for "breaking the law", I yell at them for not caring about SAFETY, that's it.
Idiot: "Oh but you run red lights and stop signs, stop being a hypocrite"
Me: "I make sure EACH intersection is 100% CLEAR before I pass each light/ stop sign. When it's busy, I wait until the light is green/ safe to go. Hard to be a "hypocrite" when I risk NO ONE'S safety" what else you got?
Also also, here's a huge difference between me yelling at idiots for "breaking the rules" ( which I don't )
and yelling at those who risk my safety and the safety of others... Please learn it

Seeing you ride through Central Park brought back memories of when we use to do that back when school was out and we had the whole summer to ride around the park. And when you said horse manure, that is 100% true during one of the runs I was forced to ride through horse manure and had to find some place to clean off the tires. 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲.

This seems similar to L.A.'s CicLAvia Heart of L.A. route that takes place every October. Only difference is L.A. is too small to hold something like this and it's 2-way instead of 1-way. Maybe i'll go to NY for this specific event someday.

This was so kool to watch, I’m originally from NYC, but I reside in North Texas. This video reminded me a f the hours I spent riding in and around Manhattan, and Central Park. I’m glad to see you posting on KZbin again. You spent most of your time passing other riders, and you may have even described what you’re riding. But I am curious to know what gear you’re riding on! I plan to make this ride next year so I’ll need to get training! Thanks for sharing your experience!

Cause not everything is in walking distance sadly, especially when there’s weather like extreme heat, rain, or snow. The way some areas in NY are built make you rely on a car. Which is a disservice to those who don’t have or can’t get a car. While car companies profit.

Not all NYC is like that. In Staten island, the further away you get from the boat the more you need a car Buses run sporadicly, and there is no easy way to get from the north shore to the south shore by foot or bicycle. Rockland Ave is supposed to be shared use street, but I will not ride there the outerbridge crossing does not a pedestrian or bicycle path, the Goethals and the Bayonne do.

If you just live in Manhattan maybe, i ride from City to Queens daily, but now from Queens to Suffolk Long Island no, carry my kid no, delivery E-Bike traveling opposite direction on bike lane hitting you at 30 MPH breaking my bike no lol.

hey, I did that ride also... took the 6 am boat to get to the start... parked near the ferry, and at the end, the cops opened one the barriers so I could get to my car, and then drove home via Richmond Terrace to South Avenue. It was a great ride except for the spills I saw, a few people went down, one on the BQE right before where the Prospect Parkway splits off from the BQE... I did see one driver get hammered with tickets for driving on the closed street in Brooklyn... My radar unit went crazy and I looked and damn, I saw a car right behind me...

Thanks for taking us along, Z-E. This is something I would love to have the chance to do - and would hate it for 90%+ of the ride. I tend to ride in the higher gears and ride at a pretty fast pace. Not really into the cruising along thing. I have enough trouble here in Boise dealing with pedestrians, people pushing strollers or walking dogs, and other slower cyclists. Having to weave in and out of thousands of other cyclists would drive me crazy. Still, it would be so cool to be able to say I did it. 2 questions: 1) What do you carry for drinks and snacks on a ride like this? And 2) I noticed the wrap over you bar tape. What's up with that?

*1)* I have a water bladder with a hose connection to it in my backpack. Snacks, I forgot to bring some *(rookie mistake)* I was starving when I was done lol *2)* It's saran wrap, since the bike is "new" I didn't want to take it off yet.
