Hey Jordan I enjoyed this video. I've been making camping videos for about a year now and it's been a blast. I did one bikepacking video in Gatineau Park in Quebec and it was a lot of fun, especially during the fall colours. I have been to the west coast several times, also staying on Salt Spring Island, beautiful spot. Anyways you did a great job on the video, looks great.

Such a beautiful video. Found your channel tonight and can't stop watching. Love the stillness and "slow-tv" of this one. Also can't believe how much Canada looks like Sweden. Keep up the good work, it's great inspiration.

Hi Ludvig, thank you so much! Slow TV, love that. and sounds like I'll have to visit Sweden!

Great video! Your editing skills are very professional. I wondered which islands you were on but then saw the chapter titles. Although I enjoyed the natural sounds I sort of missed some narration which might have been fun. Wonderful job!!
@JordanVegBike2 жыл бұрын
Hi John, glad you enjoyed the video and editing. I agree with the narration bits. It's partially that I like to focus on the chill, not much talking vibes but also sometimes I'm lazy and scripting and recording narration is a lot, especially for these longer videos. Maybe will try more of that in the future tho, thanks for the feedback!

Phfffff go to Thetis! Actually they don't have a campground of much public space but it's a nice island. Our friend has a family cabin there so we often will stay there. Also I not sure if Penelakut is open to visitors, I think it might just be for locals but don't quote me on that. Great video, very calming.
@JordanVegBike2 жыл бұрын
oh interesting. I bet I could find a spot on Thetis to hang out near the beach. and there's definitely a BC Ferry route to Penelakut so I'd be surprised if it was locals only, that would be pretty wild.

Thanks for sharing, very nicely done! Wondering about the places you camped, did you stealth camp in certain areas or were all reserved? I'm a hammock guy myself and you nailed your evening perches. Interested how tedious planning these islands are for tripping. Cheers!
@JordanVegBike Жыл бұрын
hey Kristin glad you enjoyed! These were all provincial parks that I had been to at least once or twice before so I was pretty familiar with the layout and local geography so felt comfortable finding a nice pair of trees to perch on. The spot on Saturna (with Mount Baker framed by the two trees) was the exact spot I had used my last time here.

@@JordanVegBike wonderful spot and tempting but you can't stealth camp at Ruckle.... huge concern about wildlfires on our islands.

How far did or do you have to bike each day to get to the provincial park campsites and do you have to book them ahead or are they first come first serve?
@JordanVegBike Жыл бұрын
hey Scott, many of the sites on the gulf islands only require an hour or two of riding at most. It may be recommended to try to book sites beforehand, that is what I primarily did for my first few times going to each campground. There are some that are non-reservable as well as overflow spaces, but that will depend on when you are going and how big your group is. For me on solo trips I tend not to book sites anymore.

I enjoyed your video, particular the fact that you let the scenery speak for itself. It would have been nice to know which islands you were on though. Is there an order you would recommend doing them in?
@JordanVegBike3 ай бұрын
hey thank you so much, glad you liked the more minimal style. If you look at the chapter markers on the video you can see which island it is. My favorites are definitely Galiano and Saturna, followed by maybe Salt Spring (it's just so busy but has lots of cute cafes/restaurants etc.).

Wow you got a whole ferry to yourself! Where would you recommend if you only had 1 or 2 nights to get away and you don't know what you're doing?
@JordanVegBike2 жыл бұрын
it was pretty unusual to get a solo ferry! and I would probably say Salt Spring? nice mix of beauty and amenities. Galiano is awesome too, though.
