Enjoy your videos, down to earth straight forwards comments. Having not ridden a bike for a good number of years I decided to get one again for pleasure riding (not retired as yet) having shortlisted several bike options I decided on the Kawasaki Z650 RS, I found one at a Kawasaki dealer that was a one owner 2023 with only 235 miles that is in as new condition and best of all in my opinion in the retro green colour. Used to enjoy riding in the Yorkshire Dales as a teenager, and hopefully again. Being delivered shortly after it is serviced. Now hoping for some better weather so I can enjoy it .

The fact that the x adv is more expensive than the new hornet sp just doesn’t make sense.
@motorcycle-man7 сағат бұрын
It makes very much sense actually. X-Adv is a A LOT more feature rich and every part that goes into it is specifically for that model. Contrary to the Hornet SP that actually shares a lot of parts with other models or are shelf parts so cost of production is relatively lower and the R&D has also been spent previously.

When I was in China, architects there specified Italian tiles for a hotel/ department store, within 6 months the glaze on the tiles had worn off, after an investigation, they were proven to be be Chinese copies. The problem is there is a lot of parts in a bike, any fakes in the system would be a catastrophe.. 🇨🇳

@@TheMissendenFlyer Andy, I don't know if you are aware but Honda's new 1000 Hornet pricing has already had a positive effect. Kawasaki's new heavily updated Z900 [ I DON'T THINK YOU HAVE EVER TESTED ONE] has been re-priced similar to that of the new Honda. The Z900 does not make as much power but is more electronics laden with an IMU, cruise control and a host of advanced electronic gizmo's. Buying a KTM right now? No freaking way! Quality is so bad, tons of issues, dealers will go out of business because they had to finance the bikes, warranty will be gone as well...even the craziest discount should not make anyone buy these shitboxes. Great video by the way, mate! Totally agree with you...especially concerning the Guerilla...I really like this bike. The Triumph on the other hand is like a bike for kids.
@sergentcolon12 сағат бұрын
Happy new year Andy, the retro BMW looks ok, but for that money I’d rather buy an original R90S, which is even better looking and far cheaper to run and easy to self service. For me Honda’s new Hornet is a breath of fresh air in these days of ever increasing price tags. On the Triumph 400 v RE Guerrilla, I’ve test ridden both and they are both great bikes, for me the RE is more of a hooligan machine which encourages you to ride faster in the same way that only the original Honda Hornet 600 I owned did . The Triumphs engine pulls better and smoother from lower revs while the Guerrilla needs to be revved more, not pulling as well from lower revs. You need to change gear a lot more on the Guerrilla than the Triumph. I found for me the Triumph to be more comfortable though both subject the rider to substantial wind blast at higher speeds, a small windscreen would be a necessity on both machines for me.

Morning Andy, fascinating review insight, once again. I must say I'm looking forward to you riding the Honda Hornet and I tip my hat to Honda for taking the fight to the Chinese bikes with this being priced under the 10 grand for the tricked up version. Personally,I think Triumph made a mistake with the new 800 sport, should have kept that under 10 grand too. Like you keep saying the Chinese bikes are here and really good value, it remains to be seen if that'll be the case ,as they nudge other manufacturers out , but I was quite interested in the 800 sport, but once it's price was announced as being over the 10 grand mark, it just put it past the justification bench mark of new toy for me. Thanks for all the effort you've put in over the last 12 months and looking forward "and boy do we need something to look forward too", the next twelve months. Happy new year to you bud and the ever lovely Mrs F 🎉

Chinese bikes won't become mainstream until they have as big and as comprehensive a dealer network as the established names. Buying a new bike is only half the picture. If you can't get it serviced and buy spares easily then buying one is a bad idea.

You are absolutely right about China. I’m an engineer, I visit the country four or five times a year. In fact, most of my company’s sales are to Chinese and Asian customers. I visit many engineering companies across the region and can tell you firsthand, they are waaay ahead of anything I see in the West. Their quality is higher than ours, their productivity is better and they have an amazing entrepreneurial attitude. I would have no worries about buying Chinese motorcycles and, frankly, since most of my and my cooleagues’ incomes come from our sales to China I would consider it hypocritical for me to not do so just because of the machine’s origin.

Yes, China is now capable of producing an acceptable bike that massively undercuts the Western manufacturers. Is that a good thing? Not if you consider the damage it will do….say goodbye to Ducati,BMW, Triumph, etc. They can do it because they’re not competing on a level playing field, being a communist economy etc. People brush off criticism of China by saying they’re not interested in the politics but they bloody well should be! China is out to dominate the world economy and will destroy anything in its way. It’s happening in plain sight e.g KTM and as usual we’re blindly ignoring the facts because we’re superficially saving money etc. In a very few years motorcycling will be gone as we know it. I wouldn’t buy a Chinese bike at any price! 😢

Agreed mate, that CB1k SP looks not only to be a fantastic bike, but also incredible value. I Think I'd like one.....

I know everyone is raving over the new Hornet. I sat on one at the Motorcycle show and found it extremely uncomfortable. But I'm also 6ft4 with long legs. The Honda guy was very upset at my remark, he took it personally. Imagine that, someone not liking a bike!? Just not my thing, it might be a good bike, but the point of the matter is it all comes down to the individual. Regardless if the bike is technically fantastic, if it doesn't suit you, it doesn't suit yoy.

Interesting episode as usual. Shame about KTM & I hope they stick around but I wouldn't dream of buying one in their current fragile state. With regard to the new CB1000, it's a curious one as in itself as a machine, there's nothing special about it. It's "just" an "average" Japanese 1000cc mid-pack naked. However, because of its incredible price it's a game changer that will hopefully force the industry to acknowledge we don't all want 20k 200bhp super computers on wheels. My point being, because there's nothing remarkable about the Honda's spec, ALL manufacturers should be able to build a comparative machine for a similar price or at least much cheaper than they currently do. Honda are a huge company & so can afford to slash their margins to the bone like no one else. Subsequently, I'm not sure anyone else can compete with them in the long run, but it'll be good to see the rest try!

Andy HNY. As I watch this in the death zone between Christmas and New Year it has instilled a fear and dread in me, I am sitting on KTM 890 that I used to go to Morocco on in 2024 (I love the bike, it didn’t miss a beat)it was due to be changed in 2025 until the KTM news in Nov. The dread comes from what it’s worth to trade and the fear is that I am probably going to have to keep it. In normal circumstances if I could trade there are so many great bikes out there, love the idea of the new Hornet, the Kawasaki you have on test and maybe stepping into the Triumph stable. Just have to wait and see on the KTM front and hope a Phoenix rises from the ashes for the employees, dealerships and customers. We should know more when the 90 days is up, the numbers are eye watering.😢

I like the look of the New Ducati Multistrada, but without shaftdrive I wouldn't considered it

I love my Multi 950S but just as you say TMF, too tall and top heavy, so the new one looks just the job. Not personally bothered about shaft drive but do see the attraction of it. Happy new year to all.

Fantastic as always. I wish Royal Enfield would try harder to get their bikes' weights down. I like the Huntr, the Intercepter, and the Bear too, but those weights. 🤔 As for KTM, it wouldn't surprise me if there's a part purchase offer from a few other brands. Or maybe they're just too big. Either way. I've seen a few great deals already on brand new 790 Dukes for example. £6k

At 181 kgs wet weight with 90% fuel, the Hunter 350 is a reasonably light bike for it's type. The Honda GB350S, which is almost identical to the Hunter comes in at 178 kgs but it doesn't have a centre stand or proper grab rails, which the Hunter does have. Fit them to the Honda and it would be slightly heavier than the Hunter so Royal Enfield have done well with the weight of the Hunter
