Thanks! The Grizl is a size large- fits me pretty well at 187cm. The tent is definitely larger & heavier than some, but it's great having the extra space.

You didn’t need to ride across London. You could have taken the Thameslink from St Pancras to Blackfriars, and Waterloo is about five minutes away on the bike. I’m looking at doing this route soon. Did you have your book your bike on the train to Brockenhurst? Did you book the campsites, as I heard you can just turn up if you’re on a bike.

Cycling accross London is a guilty pleasure of mine 😅 I don't think you could book your bike onto the train to Brockenhurst when I did this, from memory it was first come first served. This did lead to a rather stressful bike pile on the train! The campsites were like you've heard. Just turn up and pitch the tent- plenty of room

I'd planned on doing it this week because the weather is nice, but I'm not sure I'd get to the Ocknell campsite before it gets dark, as I can't get to Brockenhurst until at least 1pm. I've had too many bikepacking days in the past where it's ended up taking waaay longer than I'd planned for. Maybe I should leave it to next year, when it gets dark later......

TriathlonDan brought me here. The New Forest still remains on my bucket list, maybe I'll pay it a visit next year, this looks like a very great place to ride a bike - and more importing camping. Would what it's like for wild camping? Closest I got was the North/South Downs earlier this year and it was beautiful down there. Enjoyed that Will.

Very relaxing place to ride a bike- no cars is always a treat. We only stayed at campsites, but I'm sure you wouldn't be the first to wild camp there!

it's not a gate gamble is it,you open ,you get off and close.. bikepacking means unpack your arse from the saddle and close the things, there is animals around there and they will escape if not closed properly, if you don't like gates do road cycling.
