That 18 wheeler reflective tape, is really good stuff. The the ones on the back of the tractor trailers mounted on the crash bar also known as Mansfield bars, name so because of the famous actress who was killed, driving through Louisiana on a foggy night and rear ended a trailer, completely ripping off the roof of the car and killing the adult occupants inside - Jane Mansfield and her lawyer.. her two kids who were sleeping in the backseat lived. One of them is Mariska Haggerty, and now you know the rest of the story. DOT came up with those bars because of that wreck.

I’m getting ready for a 330km ride in June in Ireland. Some good tips thanks for sharing George. I’m going to source some reflective tape for sure. I’ll probably run GP5000s with Vittoria latex tubes as I figure there is less risk of a major tubeless malfunction to worry about on the day. Don’t get me wrong I do run tubeless but not for an event like that. Love the bike by the way, I have an Oltre XR3 in black.
@SeeYouUpTheRoad Жыл бұрын
You’re Welcome! I decided not to use latex because of the massive pressure loss. What has been your experience with pressure loss over 24 hours?
@clp91009 Жыл бұрын
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad I’ve been using Latex tubes for years and swear by them for comfort and rolling resistance. My guess is they lose 15-20% of their air overnight. On a long day out I start off with the tires pumped up slightly firmer to compensate.

Very interesting. Every one seems to think physiology is static. Bike fit always says be able to live in the drops/hoods, You make a good point George. Hands should be relaxed and comfortable without hindrance. What maybe is a important variable is strength and flexibility. Long torso maybe adds complexity to comfort vs longer leggs shorter torso register differently on the front.

Great setup and nice looking ride. One minor point that's bit me in the ass, though it's rare, is I noticed your front valve isn't fully tightened up. I once had a really slow leak and it came from the valve and was solved by tightening down the valve stem
@SeeYouUpTheRoad Жыл бұрын
What is the deal with people obsessing about the valve 😂 refer to my comment above to Max. The point of the video was the tape job, the lights and reflective gear 😂 I’m not racing until Saturday so the valve is a non-issue until then 😂 So funny how people pick the tiniest and most irrelevant detail instead of focusing on the main topic of the video. Oh well that’s life on social media I guess 😂

Good luck on the event! Currently stuck at home here with a fairly bad cold - getting better already though… I‘d be interested on your impression with the GP5000 S TR tires later. I‘m still looking for a summer tire and have read a lot of reviews which mention that the S TR really likes to puncture - compared to the older 5000 TL.
@SeeYouUpTheRoad Жыл бұрын
It’s a race tire what do you expect. 😂
@Freacer1 Жыл бұрын
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad I dunno, but the 5000 TL was basically bombproof. My set of Pirelli P Zero Race TLR also held for 4000km without a single puncture. Both are race-ready tires as well. In contrast around 50% of the reviews for the 5000 S TR are extremely negative with people complaining about multiple punctures within the first few hundred kilometers. I hope it goes well for you, but thats why I´m asking. Cheers.
@SeeYouUpTheRoad Жыл бұрын
@@Freacer1 yes the TL gave better puncture resistance I mentioned that in my unboxing of the S TR. However it has been discontinued. Most people love to complain. In other words, you will see more reviews of people complaining than you will see reviews of people that are happy with their S TR tires.

tape on the tape! haha, I like it.

Yep! When it’s time to take it off it’s super easy and no glue residue from the black electrical tape. Also for my frugal peeps - not it’s reusable! Just pull the tape off put it on something slick and you have the tape to reuse for another event. I will most likely leave it on for the couple of events they are coming thick and fast 😂

It’s a good safety idea on a personal level. But many race organizers require it! The eeBrakes are outstanding! Easy to set up easy to adjust. These are direct mount. The clamping power is insane considering they are half the weight of Dura-Ace R9100 - not a weight weenie but when you get similar or better performance why not. Thanks for watching! What do you think about the 'd-fender' that is a fairing to cover the top half of the front wheel leaving the rest exposed in order to take advantage of the headwind on the rearward rotion of the wheel. Thx
