A brief explanation of randoneurring and brevets. A tour of my brevet bike. A couple of quick repairs to get ready. And finally some footage of the ride and control stops to give folks an idea of what it's all about

I haven’t done a brevet since before covid and now I’m feeling the pull. I liked the sign off cards but get the new gps system. Thanks for the motivation now I just need to build up my miles and pick something:)🇨🇦

I never knew that randonneuring was a thing until I started watching your videos. Seems like my kind of event. You against the road and yourself. Motivated me to jump on the wifes peleton and start building my base. Hope to see you at 200k sometime this fall.

Man I just got into cycling in April, fell in love with the looks/practicality of randonneuring bikes. I'd love to work up to doing one of these events in the next year or two! Looks like a great time

I finally got around to this video and it was great to see your prepping your bike and gear for the rando ride. Seems like it could be a lot of fun with the right group of people. I was surprised to see such a wide range of bikes and riders in the rando group.

I like seeing these bike rally videos, especially if kids are involved, and are inspiring other kids to get outside, and get on their bikes.

Those burritos look excellent! Although personally I skip the salsa if I'm not going to be near any, uh, facilities, for a while lol. Lovely ride, thanks for the vid!

I enjoyed your video as I love the nitty gritty bike geek stuff as well as the ride details. That is a sweet ride you have there. I have done several century rides and at 58 years old that seems to be my limit as of late. Take care.

Sweet bike, thanks for the video. Also, if you put the nut on the bolt before grinding it down, when you remove the nut it will fix the threads. 👍

Very informative, I’ve always wondered how to prepare and transport a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Lol, just teasing you. Great video, especially the beginning of the brevet. One of the best parts of the ride.

Immediately subscribed! The video was very enjoyable and informative. Thank you for sharing your cycling expertise. Endurance bicycling, comraradarie, PBJ's, burritos, blues guitar music, what is not to like? Looking forward to an upcoming Ride for MS and the El tour de Tucson. Working my way up to a brevet.

Hi Steve. You are the second Quandt I have come across randomly in the last week. The other one was on a cycling Facebook group.

Minus the burrito wrap, the mix you have in the pan ,is what's referred to as "chuck wagon hash" or "eggs 'n' such". That's gonna fill you up in no time. And it doesn't take much.

Excellent video! I am looking at a Waterford/Gunnar, and that build you have is gorgeous. My wife and I hope to do everything from club rides to multi-day touring with brevets as our “competitive” endeavor.

OMG! I love seeing a Waterford bike. Back in 1990 I had a custom built Schwinn Paramount OS made in in Waterford. I miss that bike but the next Waterford for me will be more of a endurance style like yours. I'm more concerned about comfort and reliability than racing speed anymore. Safe rides!

Very interesting video. I have a Specialized 60 cm Expedition touring bike with 40 spoke wheels & 700 x 35 tires. Wiring in the downtube for a generator that rubs on the tire tread. (More info on how you charge your phone as you ride please) Suntour shifting on the triple chainrings up front with a neat little cam in the downtube mounted shift leverd that trims the front derailleur as the rear deraileur moves across the freewheel cluster. I really love the bike.

I can scarcely imagine that anyone would want to "cheat" on a robaix by taking shortcuts. I mean, what would be the point?

How do you like the 53mm midtrail? I'm working on a randonneur frame projet, and I wanted a low trail geometry, but I dont like the idea of riding with a front loaded bag all the time.

I just caught this video. Very nice! Could you give me some info on your rear light? I am looking to add a rear light onto my rear fender, and yours is close to what I'm looking for. I assume the wiring needs to be spliced into the headlight wiring? I have the same front hub and front light that you have, but with spade connectors at the hub. (I have a new to me Rando bike, and I'm trying to get a list of updates / upgrades that I want to make). Thank you!

How is your experience with the barlow pass tires extralights in tubeless? Any weeping issues? i've been using the standard casing, but wondering if i should try the extralights as my off-road riding is quite limited and usually on well maintained gravel.

Hi, is a Fuji Touring (13-14 kg) worth for a randonnée ? What about your bike weight ? Everybody here in Italy use sport bike for randonnée.

I never pack my bike in a car. Never. I’ve pedaled 3 days to get to a 125 mi bike event. If I can’t pedal to an event from home, I don’t do the event.
