Be careful when buying these racks. The Yakima in this video completely blocks the center brake light. Once I put both of my bikes on the back the bikes successfully obscured both of the main brake lights on the jeep! I didn’t even drive with it on. I immediately took it off and returned it. All you need is a cop having a bad day and you’re itching for a ticket.

Most serious riders are going to use a pedestal rack mounted in the hitch. The most helpful info would be to know which ones fold down and allow clearance to open the tailgate, at least partway.

Amber Ann Yes. I use the Kuat Pivot V2 and the NV 2.0. They are awesome and I use them almost everyday. Totally solid.

Question, Does the 2018 JL Sport S have a tow hitch opening for a rack if you didn't add the tow package? For the spare tire rack - do we need a reinforced tail gate?

You can add a tow hitch to any Wrangler very easily if it didn’t come from the factory. www.quadratec.com/p/quadratec/premium-2-receiver-hitch-jeep-wrangler-jl You don’t need any additional tailgate reinforcement to carry a spare tire mounted bike rack. If you’re carrying an oversized tire as well, that may be a different story

The latter two won't work with a step thru bike. You would need the kind that cradles the tires but then you have to worry about whether it can handle 4" wide fat tires. Any Jeep Wrangler solution for that? EDIT: besides the roof solution. I don't think I want to be lifting fat bikes up there.
