Having ridden in the new soft and hard top. It's exactly what you would expect. The soft top gives you the more noise. It's not that bad at all really. With the new JLs they worked a good bit on the interior sound proofing and on a good road it's not really noticeable especially with a radio going. Hell of a lot more better than the JK at least. Edit: Not sure about the One Touch tho.

Guys, Sky One Touch means just that, One Touch. Tap the button once and it opens all the way back. Tap the button once and it closes all the way. You only hold the button, as was done in this video, when you want to open or close partially. No need to hold it to open or close all the way 😉

Yes it’s ACTUALLY one touch! Plus the vehicle comes with a protective storage bag for the rear windows so it’s really not that inconvenient. Terrible job seeing as how people may use this as a research tool for their own purchase.

One correction if this hasn't been addressed already is that you do NOT need to press hold the button until theOne Touch Sky Top is fully opened. Just a quick press and let go. The top will open, on it's own. I've had the hard, soft and now the Sky Touch and by far, the Sky Touch is hands down my favorite. Unless you're driving from the rear cargo area, it's the exact same open air feeling you get with the top completely removed. Don't forget, you can still remove all the doors with the Sky Touch as well as the rear windows. The only draw-back is the additional cost. My second option, if you don't want to spend the extra 4K+, would be the Premium soft top. The hard top is just an all around pain in the you know what and yes, I live in the Northeast and have kept my soft top on in the winter and never felt cold. Yes, the jeep does come with heat folks .....

In the cold North Canada, they sell the dual tops option, which includes the soft top and the hard top. It's the best of both worlds. To store the hard top during summer, there is that vertical storage solution ($150) you put your top on. Add a few layers of shrink wrap and you protect it from accidental scratches.

I live in Georgia and love my 2 door JL Premium Soft Top. I drive around with the top down nearly all the time and just put it up when it rains. I test drove a hard top and there was no noticeable difference in sound levels so the soft top was a no brainer. They made these new soft tops so well that I can have it fully up or down in under 3 minutes and the windows hang on the garage wall in an after market rack I got for $80. The Jeep is a super fun ride and top down driving puts a smile on my face every day.

I just got my first Wrangler less than a month ago. It came with a Freedom Top. I love it. It comes with a bag to hold both the panels. But the downside is, it blocks your rear view if you use it the way you're instructed. I love it anyway. I'm happy to be a Wrangler owner now 😀

I live in the Capital region of New York where it gets very cold and a lot of snow and it holds the heat just fine. I had like two feet of snow on the top and never even sagged.

I just seen yesterday via instagram that Bestop is bringing the JL soft top technology to the JK. So excited about this! I like my hard top, however it is cumbersome and does not allow the entire open air experience at the drop of the dime like a soft top. And because I have a JKU the freedom panels are a tad bit more of a pain to take off. So Jeep did a great job by making the freedom panels easier to take off on the new JLs. Even though the new One Touch Sky Top is expensive it is a great compromise for someone who does not necessarily care to have their top off all the way. Great videos guys! Love the channel & thanks for what you do. You guys single handily helped make our decision on the purchase of our 2018 Power Wagon. Which by the way, "POWER WAGON DON'T CARE!" - Nathan :)

It would help if the guys reviewing the power top would actually know how to use it. Twice, he mentions that you have to hold the button down to open it all the way. No you don’t. Press the button once for a half second, the top opens all the way. Press it again and it closes all the way. When you hold the button down for more than a half a second, it becomes a manual operation meaning that when you let go, it stops wherever it is. You can operate the top while driving up to 60 mph.

Since I live in the Northeast and have to deal with wintery weather I decided to get the hardtop. But I did invest in a Bestop Sunrider so during the summer months I can swap out the Freedom Panels and have the ability to flip the top back and enjoy open sun whenever I want. Wife has sky-top, one huge advantage is while off-roading, we hit the button and close it before we choke on oncoming traffics dust. Just purchased a gladiator and hardtop keeps me much cooler when temps hit 100, but still considering best tops sunrider as it would be almost as easy to open and close as the sky-top. I just got a 2020 rubicon with the onetouch top and I absolutely love it. I live in SW-FL and certain times of year it's not a question of IF it will rain today, but WHEN If I had the soft top I would probably almost never put it down If I had the hard top I would absolutely never take it off But with the one touch I put it down whenever i get the chance and i don't have to worry about rain or getting too cold.

My first jeep was a 13 JKU freedom edition with the hard top. i really liked it and how it looked.... just got a 23 4xe rubi w/ a soft top and absolutely love it. its so so much easier to take the top down. i was rarely driving w/ the 2 front panels off b/c it was a pain to just take them off and on. went years without taking down the back part b/c just too heavy and didn't have help and nowhere to put it.

Always see the soft tops down when it's nice out. The hard tops occasionally remove the freedom panels. Soft top is super easy too. Hard to beat. I like the look of the hard top more though.

If you live in convertible weather (like SoCal) and you want your top down a lot then soft top is the only way to go. Very easy to put up and down. LOVE the soft top on my JL. Quiet when up and totally awesome all the way down.

Soft-top Wrangler is great with styling while the roof is all the way back, hard-top is safer, the one touch convertible Wrangler seems perfect to me but i have to be careful with the painted side panels. I would buy the all three.

What about option 4? The dual top with both hard and soft tops? Best day of the year is that day in Spring when the hardtop goes in the shed and the soft top goes on... but in the northeast it’s nice having the wiper and defrost on the rear window in the Winter. I personally would never buy that Jeep with the power top. I can so see that breaking in the middle of a downpour and then you in your garage pulling the drain plugs and airing out the carpets.

I drove soft and hard tops only thinking of the noise level on the highway. There wasnt enough difference to pick one over another on that. BUT, what got me was the amount of HEAT that plows thru a soft top vs a hard top. In Florida hot sun this gave the edge to a freedom hard top to me. Plus, you can add heat barrier foam on that and its as quiet and cool as a car. I still want a soft top darnit. But what to do with the windows when you take them out? Get stolen? Fly out the back?

Great video! If the freedom top had removable rear panels that would be the perfect top. In the PNW most of the time its a gravel road till you hit a trail. I feel a Freedom with removable rear panel configuration would be perfect for that . 4 panels and you have open air once you hit the trail, and hard top for rain and cold winter temps.
