Tbf there are plenty of streets in the Netherlands where all modes mix, but those are typically reserved for narrow residential streets where speeds are slow regardless.

Far as I can tell. Seattle is leading the way. Miami is not far behind. But Seattle is the only place with exclusive lanes. It's dragging me there. Cause at 47. I am flat out sick? Of driving. I've been driving for 35 years and want to live in a place where I don't have to drive anymore but importantly where I can drive no more. Cause Seattle has protected lanes.

Don't forget to create protected intersections. Too often the protected bikelanes leave cyclists horribly unprotected in intersections. Truly incomprehensible as that is where the protection is needed most. Protected intersections are a solved problem: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4mteo1rrbGtl68

This can only work if Seattle Parking Enforcement enforces the law. Parking in the Bike Lane is a parking violation that hold a $300 fine. It makes it very unsafe when some Entitled Car Driver thinks they are above parking laws. To make a city truly bike safe, we need parking enforcement and SPD to do their job and start issuing tickets to drivers who violate already existing statutes. Trouble is, the SPD and Seattle Parking enforcement don't do their job to make Seattle safe for cyclist. Learn bicycle law and statutes... If you are hit by a car, call the police and if the damage/injuries are more than $1500 insist that a citation is issued to the inattentive driver. Drivers are required by law to allow 3 feet of clearance on the left of the cyclist. Knowing the law and getting an attorney that specializes in bicycle traffic law is the very first step after any Collision. (don't ever refer to it as an accident (which implies No Fault) . Call the police, get a drivers license number, license plate number and a good description of the collision. If you have video footage, take the SD card out and put it in a safe place. Copies of SD cards are not permitted in a court room. On average, a collision will result in over $12k for the ER visit to check for concussion, damage to your bike, physical therapy, medications totalling over $30k. Without an attorney, the car drives insurance will tell you, "we don't pay those kind of claims..!" That is why you need an attorney to pay for damages. The $30k is only recovering loss, (not pain/suffering) .

How about you yield to cars. There is no fucking way in hell i am yielding to a bike in a bike lane just because it is a bike. You do not deserve my respect, the city puts up all these bike lanes and the bike riders do not need to pay for tabs. I do not ride a bike yet part of my tabs go to paying for those fucking bike lanes. Seattle is filled with to many liberals that think bike lanes will solve anything when in fact they are all idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Mongo4005 жыл бұрын
@@UnknownMoses I pay for car tabs for the car that sits in my garage- stop being an arrogant, misinformed person. Go ride your bike and see if you can open up your views- experience what is out there. Again- assuming everyone but yourself is an idiot is very arrogant, and I wish you would be a happier person.

realmoses1 Who needs a four lane street? Cars or bicycles? Who needs massive interchanges? Cars or bicycles? Who pollutes the air? Cars or bicycles? Car traffic causes the majority of costs. So pay the additional taxes for the extra things you demand and stop complaining or switch to a nice bike (it's healthy and inexpensive)

Interesting, however, Seattle is number 4 in US for traffic delays, converting traffic lanes to bicycles paths that don't pay road taxes, they are seldom used during inclement weather and will cause further delays and adding to the pollution. Go for it, Chicago is starting to get a back lash from voters due to the same problems.
@driewiel9 жыл бұрын
+fixento Yes lets stick to cars so you won't have delays and pollution. At least you are right about one thing. Bicycles don't pay road taxes. But cyclists do. Because most own a car just like you. And I can assure you our drivers are extremely happy with bicycles. Or it would be one big traffic jam whole year. You won't get many votes in my country if you are against safe cycling.
@fixento9 жыл бұрын
I don't know were you live but in the northern states of the US, winter weather is a major factor, of course I'm sure you have snow tires or studded tires for your bike so you don't just ride it for 5 months out of 12. Also north America is the capital of thunder storms. So they take a lane of traffic make a bike path and when needed in bad weather it's vacant of bikers. If you own a car and a bike that makes you tax privileged? Tax on gasoline maintains the roads in this county not spandex sitting on a bike. The bikers in the US also do not obey traffic laws, they think they are privileged by running stop, red lights, speeding, make left turns by crossing vehicle lanes and bitch because the cursed at or injured in an accident.
@illegitimate06 жыл бұрын
Bicycles don't damage the roads like cars do, and they fit many more times the amount of people through the same space than a car lane. Adding car lanes has been shown in many studies to not reduce traffic. Improving public transportation and alternative transportation (like cycling) is what reduces traffic. Seattle has lots of rain but lots of people who bike rain or shine, and very little extreme weather like snow or extreme heat that prevent cycling. You should thank every cyclist you see for reducing your traffic.
@UnknownMoses5 жыл бұрын
@@illegitimate0 Cars don't really damage roads either, it's big trucks that damage roads. Anyway it is not just about maintenance but rather the cost to implement bike lanes in the first place. Bike lanes should be toll lanes and only that money should be used to build the lanes. Then no lanes would ever be built because they don't used much. idiots.
@UnknownMoses5 жыл бұрын
@@illegitimate0 Lot's of people who bike rain or shine as in how many cars does this take off the roads daily couple thousand at most and probably less than 1000. Bike lanes will not have a positive impact on Seattle traffic conditions. If you truly think so then you just are not very smart. You are paraphrasing propaganda about bike lanes. Can you name even one study and can you validate it's accuracy. What city was the study done in, what city was used as the control group?
