I have 16 myself, love to see how other people analyse their collections and justify why a build stays. Cheers for this, great content ☺️

How do you store 16 bikes?I have 10 bikes and my car has to stay outside of the garage.
@MAGAIVER22 күн бұрын
@@RandolphBumatay I keep 12 bikes in my office, 5 hanging on a wall, 6 on the floor next to another wall, using floor stands and another one, a fat bike that doesn't fit anywhere else leaned on another wall. So 3 of the office's 4 walls are taken by bikes and on the 4th wall I have my computer setup. On one of the walls I have shelves above the bikes to hold my collection of comic books and some other things. I love to work surrounded by my bikes.

The beauty of utilitarian bikes. Steel framed, rim brakes, leather saddles baskets and racks. And none so far with a seat post reaching for the sky. I'm looking forward to the next video.

This is a ‘bombora’ collection😆 seriously tho . I would to ride and own any of these beautiful bikes . The crust is the cream of the crop IMO. What really grabs me tho is the clear feeling of attachment and sentiment. Our bikes are a part of our journey literally and metaphorically. Also the attention to detail . I love the bars on the Bridgestone , the patina on the b17 etc . The love for the surly’s is clear . Thanks for sharing . My one rule is always buy from a bike shop that loves bikes and this is clearly true here . ❤️🚲

I’m currently at 7 bikes, but I could get by easily with 3 or 4. Some rarely ever get ridden, and they take up too much space in the garage. Love your collection. I have 2 Surly’s also. A Bridge Club and an LHT. I won’t part with those 2.

Thanks for showing your special bicycle collection ❤ I’m not a bicycle collector but I fall in love with that XO-1 maybe a year ago when I seen a video of it. I may not know much about bicycle specifications but I view them frames in their balance shapes n angles. The XO-1 is a beautiful build….and nice striking orange color. I was lucky to purchase a Surly PackRat frame during Covid pandemic…. and it’s the only one that’s rolling the streets of Thailand!! Nobody here wanted that frame because the trend was more for the new Surly frames. This PackRat frame also looked unique…. mine was build like a stout muscle bulldog ATB and it’s my lifelong buddy ❤

Classics all the way for me. 1988 Schwinn Project KOM mountain bike; 1981 Bianchi Campione d'Italia; 1970 Peugeot UO-8 with Japanese cranks, derailleurs, and barcons; 1959 Capo Modell Campagnolo with Nervar Star crank upgrade. Non-indexed (friction or ratchet) shift all around, 2x6 drivelines on the road bikes, 3x8 on the mountain bike. The Schwinn is my versatile go-anywhere machine; the Bianchi is for fast fun; the Peugeot is my theft-resistant errand-running beater; and the Capo is my classic "eye candy" show bike. My perennial project bikes are a littermate pair of 1961 Capo Siegers, one original, the other repainted, and a 1962 Carlton Franco-Suisse.

KZbin's algorithm served up your video to me this morning because, I suspect, all it knows about me is that I am a cyclist living in Ottawa. I'm in that other Ottawa, however, the one Goldwyn Smith opined was "a sub-arctic lumber-village converted by royal mandate into a political cockpit." I can see why you would choose to keep and maintain such apparently useful bikes. I look forward to the next episode. Cheers from the Great White North, Andrew Chaplin, rider of a Kona NRB DL gravel, "Goldbrick III," a 1972 Torpado Columbus road with a Campag NR groupset, and "Goldbrick II," a 1972 Raleigh Lenton Sports tourer I converted to fixed wheel in 1974.

Bike shop lifer here; in my opinion you can’t have a legit steel bike collection without Bridgestone and Surly in the mix so thumbs up on your choices! Big fan of All City too but sadly that brand is discontinued.

What's up with the dynamo wiring on the Pack Rat hanging loose? There's usually enough room around the crown or steerer tube to tuck that all away. I haven't found an X0-1 yet. However I do have a minty 1973 Grand Kabuki. It's an early full chromoly frame. Sadly too small for me so it's not one of my personal riders but it's extremely fast and light. Bridgestone have a fantastic lineage of quality frames.

Great presentation! I am very curious about *what* is it that you like about the Bombora and the Pack Rat. Regarding the Gevenalle shifters, don't they get in the way of the brake levers when your hands are on the hoods?

Thank you! I discuss those two bikes in separate videos. See the description for links. Follow up video for Pack Rat is planned so I can talk more about it. As far as Gevenalles, not at all. They take getting used to but feel very natural to me. I’m planning a video about them soon. Thanks for watching!!

I tell people that I am a "bike and bike part magnet" and they just somehow find their way to me. And as I've also explained to my wife, which I suspect many here understand, is that every bike part I have hanging up or laying around has a story behind it. That's the real value.

Same. Most recent bike that was given to me is a Univega Sport Tour. Ordered tires for it. Can't find good navy blue cable housing to replace what it has yet. I have a second Univega Sport that I received from a friend who passed away and I'm giving that the full restoration treatment. My head is on a swivel when I see free bikes on the side of the road. In the span of one week I found two Reflex MTBs two towns apart. One free, and one for $15. Since then, nothing Reflex has popped up. Easton tubing with internally lugged and brazed chromoly stays. They're waiting to be given attention. I have a lot of bikes, but only count a handful as personal bikes.

On the bianchi bike are the brake calipers adjusted that way because you switched from 26 to 27.5 or from 27.5 to 29 inch wheels?
@ottawabikeandtrail17 күн бұрын
No, these are old school wide cantilever brakes that were used in CX. I’ve have them on the bike since I got It and the bike brakes work great. Not sure why the straddle cable is set so low. When I rework the bike I’ll mess with them and see if I can raise the straddle cable a bit and still get the braking performance.

Very nice. All of 'em. Lifelong motorcyclist here, inc a shop owner for 15 years way back when...ref powder coating bicycle frames and forks - i personally would"nt. Unneccessarry imho, and too thick a finish - it can hide what the metal is doing underneath. Stick to trad paint.

I'm afraid the days of "not spending a lot on a bike" are gone and replaced with vintage or rare. I lived off of used and discarded parts. I miss the glory days of 9spd bikes and front derailers. Things worked well and were not complicated for no reason!
