Bikepacking Northumberland | Part 1 : Under The Tyne! | Coast and Castles

In June this year, my friends and I embarked on a 4 day bikepacking adventure in Northumberland. We created a circular route including a section of the Coast and Castles route. This route takes in the beautiful Northumberland coast from Berwick to Newcastle and many stunning castles. This was a great bikepacking trip and comes highly recommended.

My part of the world, glad you liked it. But........the lifts were working?? The pedestrian tunnel has been getting refurbished for at least 10 years, you were lucky you didn't have to carry the bike up the stairs

Yes - we were expecting to have to use the stairs based on our research - so the lift was a nice surprise!

Lifts have been working pretty well since last year, I had one occasion to use the ‘escalator’ as the voice said, ohhh you mean the stairs! All 300 of them! The tunnel is one place in North East you can guarantee No Wind! 😁
