This is a fantastic trail. I rode it last week from Abington to White Top. I was the only rider riding to White Top, everybody else on the trail got shuttled up. About 5 miles before reaching the top I came upon a very large black bear. Very cool experience.

Absolutely beautiful. You did such a great job filming and editing. You captured the trail well. I have ridden the trail from North Carolina to my home town of Abingdon. And I have walked the whole trail in just over 11 hours. An interesting note (to us hikers) is that the Appalachian trail and the Virginia Creeper trail share the same trailway in two different sections. An oddity is that in these sections, the Creeper trail northbound is the same direction as the AT southbound.

I got nervous when I saw you hitting the wet-surfaced trestles at good speed. There have been some spectacular accidents in these conditions but your skills seem to have carried you through. Great video! I live on the VCT and this is one of the better portrayals I have seen. Thanks.

Fantastic video, very well done thank you sir! I love the Creeper and enjoy riding there yr round and camping more than halfway up - roughing it.😁. I didn't know of the campground past White Top! I'm an old school mt. bike camper w/huge panniers and a bike is at 100lbs loaded - good exercise. But bikepacking looks pretty cool, though. Winter is perfect out there, nothing more beautiful than a fresh snowfall and heading home in the morning...

Thanks for the kudos. Sounds like you've gotten the opportunity to experience the trail in lots of different conditions, each with their own beauty.

I’ve run most of this trail. My high school cross country team used it as our primary training ground. Beautiful trail.

The weather really wasn’t too bad and a spring rain provides its own beauty in this part of the country (e.g. misty mountains).

I've been a roadie for 25 years. I've MTB'ed a few times, but I'm absolutely obsessed with doing some bikepacking. This trail looks fantastic and will definitely be put on my list when I get my bike and gear. A new goal for 2024. Thanks for sharing your trip!

This is going to be my Spring "long ride" this year. I plan to ride the entire thing as an out and back from Abingdon. I'm one of those weird people who is really looking forward to 17 miles of uphill. "Good training". LOL.

It’s a beautiful trail. I don’t particularly enjoy climbing, but the grade on this climb isn’t bad and there is a ton of natural beauty to take in as you spin. And then there is the big pay off that you earned when you get to go back down. The only real annoying factor is the steady stream of cyclists who are riding down as you are coming up, several of who are obviously less experienced riders.

Nice video, I go with the Boy Scouts to bike down the creeper trail in august every year and If I were you, I would start at white top and go down then take the bus back. It is a whole lot more fun going down than back up.w

That's definitely the way that most folks approach it. I'm really glad that we approached the way that we did, however. But, it obviously allows for folk who don't ride very often to have a very enjoyable riding experience. So, I hope to get my wife out and ride it that way with me at some point.

I believe e-bikes are permitted. I rode trail last week and saw more e-bikes than regular. In fact there’s an e-bike rental shop located on the trail.

Wow, excellent video! Very impressive. 👍 Having recently done a Creeper Trail video myself (kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2bOe5umfK9leJI), I learned some great techniques from you here. Also, hats (helmets?) off to your whole group for riding both directions. That is really impressive to ride all the way from Abingdon to White Top. 💪 And then riding through the rain on the following day. You guys are troopers! Thanks for posting this.

You really did earn the downhill. Nothing feels better than getting dry and warm after a rainy day ride.
