You know, Super Station Master in the Lego Loco Intro was actually just the regular Station Master minifig with a red cape and exclusive head print. In fact, I actually built that exact version of him from the Lego Loco Intro, and he proudly sits on the radio station antenna in my city, keeping a ever vigilant watch over the Lego Railways in my city.

Hey, Slugger, so I was wondering if the minfig Ninja - Samurai, Blue Old (Bricklink description) would fall into your criteria for set-exclusive torso and head print. I can't find any signs of either of them being used elsewhere. I recently got that one in a really cheap, unassuming lego haul, which I only picked up after price checking the minifigs in it and discovered that specific one's rarity.
@RRSlugger
@RRSlugger Жыл бұрын
Ah what the heck! I swear I checked this one! 😭 No, you’re totally right - this one would count and bring 1998’s total of unique torso & head combos up to 3. The Super station master I remember came with two heads: The one with the red eye covering and one with the normal mustachioed face. In the pic of him you can also see he's not wearing the cape. This is so you can basically act out the intro movie of Lego Loco and have the regular station master transform into the super station master. I also tend to swap out part of the leg pieces so that he at least has some red underpants on to retain some level of modesty and more closely resemble his appearance in Lego Island 2. (And when you do the Super Station master transformation in Lego Loco by building some phone booths for him to change into) I never realised the red axle pieces were hard to find! I currently use them for a small classic space buggy MOC.

@@RRSlugger I only remember from getting it with Lego Loco as a child, but my recollection was that it did come with both heads. One Lego game that I always wished I was able to recreate the cars/drivers from was Lego Stunt Rally. Some of the opponent cars looked really cool; I always wanted the Mr. X Rocket car! It wasn't until recently that I finally mocked it last year.

I had the creator game! But it was sold in a jewel case package in my country (and it was few years past 1998) so I've never got the biker dude :( And the game itself... building anything was tedious, good thing it had a lot of preset builds so I could make TNT-shooting car to ride and blow up the city. The building menu for the racing car in Lego Racers 2 was so much simpler but also so much better!

I clicked this video so fast when I saw it! The three PC CD Rom promo sets have been the subjects of fascination to me for years. Back in 2003 I was sent both Biker Bob and the Hand Car set by The LEGO Group's sensational UK customer service team after my grandmother wrote them a letter about an apparent moulding error on some of elements in one of my Orient Expedition sets. At the time I had no idea either existed- my copies of LEGO Creator and LEGO Loco were the later released 'Masterpiece' versions without the included sets. 8 year old me was flabbergasted to see that the Super Station Master from the Loco intro video was in fact a real minifigure! That's a real testament to LEGO's customer service! (AND they sent me replacement parts for my other OE set. Perfection.) Slugger, you just keep hitting the home runs. I loved this game, there were a lot of Easter eggs and during the intro there's this mailman (the guy without the mask) that secretly is a super hero, superman style (with mask). The red arrow on his shirt is the logo of the mail service. During the intro, if my memory doesn't fail, the boy is doing some shenanigans with the cart when suddenly a train threatens to hit it. Then mr. super post dude saves the day by redirecting the train by changing its path using a lever. Pretty sure this intro is on KZbin, I'm gonna see how good is my memory. I know nothing about Legos. But I do have the basic human decency to understand the magnitude of what R.R. Slugger is doing here. This is the Stanley Kubrick of KZbin, and that's being generous to Stanley. The depth of knowledge. The commanding yet soothing concise explanation of what makes each piece special. The smooth, well mastered tunes in the background. All perfectly combined and crafted exactly to his specifications. And the mascot. A slug with a calm, welcoming smile and eyes showcasing excitement to educate everyone on the divinity of Legos and the craft. If this isn't the real peak KZbin content, then I don't know what is.

@@RRSlugger You're very welcome, Slugger. I appreciate your kind words, I think there's a lot of joy to be had in sharing your passions with others and having them reciprocate your interest, especially if they teach you something new about them or present you with new ideas. The process of discussing something you care about is always fun :) I'm sure they'll go great for you. Your output is incredibly consistent, which I think is very impressive and personally I wouldn't find easy to achieve at all, and I'm sure all this hard work is just helping you lay the foundations to tackle bigger and better things. I also work in a creative field, so I really know that feeling of simultanious excitement and apprenehsion over those big things you've conjured up and poured so much time into. Everyone can see and appreciate how much time, effort, and care you put into your work. We'll all love your new big projects, I'm sure! Personally I can't wait to see some more R.R. Slugger Hot takes! Having no real stake in the lego scene besides thinking its neat, the way you so eloquently yet delicately put forth your opinions on this piece or that piece is always one of my favourite segments, haha. Anyway, sorry for talking your ear off. I have a bad habit of composing manuscripts of my thoughts. I just wanted to let you know that you're awesome, and I might not be a lego super fan, but I'm definitely your super fan haha!

This video really is testament to your amazing presentation skills, to be able to make such an interesting video about a handful of small sets! I’ve always been fascinated by these sets that came with games, I love that somehow you happen to make videos about the type of LEGO I’m so interested by. I guess it’s just this late 90s-early 00s period in general that I love. Biker Bob has been an iconic figure for me ever since a LEGO convention about a decade ago where there was a seller with a stall that had a glass cabinet full of Biker Bob sealed sets, that they weren’t selling for that much. One of the most interesting sellers I’ve seen. And of course I bought one! (Don’t ask me where it is now though…)

A whole vid just about all the Lego video game exclusive sets would be pretty cool

These are certainly the big three. Most of the rest are just minifigures from the game… definitely less exciting. 😅

Elaborate prints are nice and all, but I've always had a thing for those simpler ones. I guess it helps put the others into perspective. Plus, they say the classics never go out of style. I actually asked my dad to get me an entire grab bag of some older style minifigures back when I was a kid, some white and blue bikes like the one in this set as well as some classic yellow smiley faces and blue overall prints were included. This was definitely post-1998 (before that would be before my time lol), so looking back I'm somewhat surprised that was still in stores.

not a chance it happens but a biker bob remake for the stunts theme would be so cool!
