Let's stuff everything in the frame and make it a nightmare to work on. Brilliant!

But that means Scott can market it as a feature, put a higher price on it, make the frames cheaper and turn a bigger profit?! Whats not to love?

Sorta feels like the mtb industry has progressed so far in the past few years bike manufacturers are now starting to come up with new ideas/ solutions to problems that don't exist

Actually Scott stole this from a small bike manufacturer. I believe the company was called bold. Typical for Scott. Never comes up with anything new .. just borrow and steal from others.
@ajmarecki
@ajmarecki 2 жыл бұрын
@@downhilljedi Scott acquired Bold. They didn’t steal it and it is rightfully theirs now. However you are right about the fact that Scott didn’t invent it.

seems like a good idea hiding the shock, however only issue i can see is that there is no airflow around shock and could heat up, decreasing its performance, especially over long descents. However this review they have not mentioned it. But im sure when its hot it would make a difference

Not keen on the ebike aesthetics. Looks bloated, they're missing a trick by having no inframe storage in this design. As an existing genius owner who loves the twin lock, which adds cables, maybe they should have made that electronic to make the cockpit nicer instead of the workshop head scratcher. I'm sure it's an awesome bike, but does it have any real advantage over my existing one?
@patrik.clifford

I would say no, not at all... and the old version actually looks a lot better.... lean and fast, not bloated and fat :-) I´m keeping my 2022...
@michaelrobinson5268

@@patrik.clifford The ST is not comparable to the old Genius range IMO. The new one has 160mm up front and a piggy back shock that works in a different way to the old rear shock. The ST is a bit longer. I have only ridden the new ST once so far, but it is the 9th Genius I have owned. Initial impressions it that it is more stable, a bit slacker and longer but it also feels a bit less nimble. However, I do not have my suspension fully dailed in and have not made any stack height adjustments and have left it on the slack mode. I think I will start by changing it to the steeper mode. I perfer to ride a bit more over the front. Then I will likely drop the stack height one large spacer. I believe this coupled with dailing in the suspension settings will make it a dream to ride.

To all the nay sayers, I have a 2022 Scott spark rc and it's not hard to work on. I was able to change the stem to a normal one, put on riser bars, route a dropper post cable (actually super easy because of the shock access), and the trap door shock access really makes it no different to work on than an external shock. My only real complaint is all of the Syncros stems, dropper levers, etc are out of stock

@@Raxters123 no, lol, sorry, I'm not a you tuber. If you want to DM me feel free, and I can show you some pics. But, basically I put on a renthal stem, 50mm with 5 degree rise, oneup bars with 20mm rise. I cutoff the little "stem hugger" riser cover thing. Then I added a wolf tooth bar centric lever for the dropper. It clears the lock out levers really well. I tried bike yoke before (I think that's the name), and it was absolutely terrible. It chewed through 2 or 3 cables in 10 rides. It was a terrible design. Wolftooth design is excellent. I used my old pnw 200mm dropper (on am XL frame, tight fit, but worked for my long legs, the post has micro adjustments, so I think it's more at 190 now, but slammed.) The dropper cable is super easy to route. Send me your email or whatever and I can send pics

Twin lock and having everything routed though the headset just seems like a pain. Meanwhile you have transition bikes who still gives us external brake routing to make life super easy.

So, buy a insanely expensive bike that you can't switch shock on and have to buy a new stem and bar just to be able to adjust it? And oh wait - don't forget the SHIT decision of routing the cables THROUGH THE HEADSET?! WHY IS THIS A TREND? Really good review from Tom leaving no stone unturned and actually point out the weaknesses like working on your bike and the Hixon bar. Great stuff - as per usual 👍

Makes sense, keep a wear item out of the elements. Hard to say why that wouldn't be a good idea. Oh right, I'm a bike consumer and therefore I'm meant to assume every new technology is a cash grab. Apologies.

Thanks for the comment. I feel that I reported the location of the shock, rather than promoted it? In fact, I criticised the position of it, as it's harder to read the lag level (along with criticising the hose routing 🙂 ). Comments on it being kept out of mud and grit are legitimate. If it help, I thought the bike was great and I'm looking forward to riding it more 👍

Great. A mountain bike that was purposely designed to look like a motor assisted bike.... and then there's the cable routing. I will never spend a penny on a bike with cables/hoses routed through the headset. Ever.

I like the clean looks, but I don’t think that the cover for the shock is going to survive many rock strikes and then your frame will fill with grime. And it’s going to be a nightmare to work on.
