Starting a Norton International at a Classic Vehicle meet

We take a ride out to a classic vehicle meet at a local car dealership.
and while there Tom gets to start and have a potter on a Norton International 500

Thanks that was enjoyable. I used to frequent all the back routes in and around Telford when I lived and worked in Cheshire but had extended family and friends in Worcestershire. Much before that, I upgraded from a Benelli 250 2C two stroke twin to a Yamaha SR 500 single and thus also had to learn the art of kick starting big singles.

What a super chap the Norton owner is. I think that he was happy that a youngster was interested, look arround at the demographic and you can perhaps see why. The little Guzzi is lovely.

That brought back some memories! I grew up with dirt bikes 2 and 4 cycle. I was about your boy's age when I kicked over my first Brit twin. My dad was a banker and for some strange reason we ended up with a 1975 Norton Commando in the garage for the winter. It was a repo, strange as my dad had no interest in it and it was the only time any repossessions were stored at home? Any way I loved it and it planted the seed. Years later I came across a semi trashed BSA Lightning. I remember feeling a bit embarrassed when I tried to kick it over. Nothing, not a burp! The fellow selling it smiled. ''I see you have a dirt bike, plod don't jab.''😉

I live in rural Texas . One day I go by a place here and discover that a local guy had a large collection including Vincents, Ducati 900SS and many others . Boggled my mind to this day

My late uncle who lived at Port St Mary in the IOM owned an "International" back in the day. Unfortunately he died of a smoking related disease before he knew I was a bike addict.

Nope An interstate is a large tank version on an 850 Commando twin from 1974 Not an overhead cam single from the 50s 🙄
