Bikervation - Security siren Battery replacement on a Harley Davidson 2007 Sportster XL1200R

A short video on how I replaced the rechargeable 9 volt nickel metal hydride battery on my Harley Davidson Sportster 2007 XL1200R security siren.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video, my alarm has been chirping 3 times instead of twice when arming lately and the book indicates it could be because the internal siren battery is dead, will get a replacement 9v 300 mAH ni-mh rechargeable battery now that I know how to replace it and where it’s located 👍

Really helped thanks. Worrying though that all anyone has to do is unclip the box and unplug it and the alarm wont go off as they wont even need to distrub the bike to do this

thank you for the video, i just bought a 2012 sportster 883, and the chirping sound is so weak, almost can't hear them. does this have anything to do with a weak battery on the alarm module?

Hi, Thanks for watching, the short answer is I don’t know, I would have thought not and think it would work or not work. But the only sure fire way of finding out is to take it out and check with a voltmeter. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Hi, I don't know, if you have one it may be disarmed, search google or KZbin for arming/disarming the smart security system.

Thanks for this video. Would this battery being flat cause my immobilizer to not function. Ie bike isn't startable and indicators show no sign of life

Hi, Thanks for watching. I don’t know the answer to that, I think the battery is merely for the siren and if the unit was disconnected I think the bike would still work. If you have a fob I would check it’s battery as that can cause a lot of starting problems or try the starting procedure using your pin number and the indicator switches. Hope that’s of some help. Hi Springy, yes the battery is rechargable and the bike battery charges it, there only suposed to be good for a few years so I thought I'd change it and make a video. Take care, Chris

Do you have to pull the main fuse first?

I don't know if you have to but it made sense so I did, ignition on and then fuse out.
