My brother and I each had new Tiger Cubs, back in the day, in Southern California. Mine was a 1958. Just a regular street model. Great fun. I would remove the muffler, hide it in the bushes and go off road riding with mine. Wish I had another one.

What a great bike! I owned a '59 Greeves Scottish a long while back. And although it had a 2 stroke Villiers 250, it had a shed load of torque and was great to ride, with it's cantilever front forks.

These and the little Bantams were great little trials bikes in there day and even now it's a route into classic bikes that is affordable for the not so well paid working class For me the tiger cubs got a nicer sound but the weight loss of the 2 stroke Bantam did make them a tad more compliant

In my late teens I bought a 1964 trial cub in pretty poor condition. Spent a year in me ma's shed renovating it, even in freezing cold weather. Replaced most of the bearings, got a re-bore and oversized piston, new big / small ends etc After about 2k miles it threw a pushrod and was off the road for a while. Another semi-engine build and 3k miles later had a barrel / piston seizure!!! So yet another engine semi-strip down. I was back in college and riding my crappy Honda CG125 throughout that year. I then moved into a flat and went to Uni. The Honda just wore itself out whilst the Cub sat in the shed going rusty. I ended up selling it as a project and engine in basket for £75 which I still regret. Literally everywhere I went on that bike people would stop me and ask me about it. After a party one night and a few too many Vodkas the police took more interest in the bike than in my rather odd behaviour and told me to get home before it went dark!!! At times I felt like I was riding from the past into the future. Funny how a machine can have a real character. Often wondered what it would be worth now, or even where it is? I can't even remember the number plate!

A friend of mine bought one in a basket for $15.00 in 1968. His parents wouldn't let him have a bike so he brought it to my house and we worked on it in my basement. That summer I went to California to study Art, and live with my Unkle. I got a call from him long distance....he had got it running, he put the receiver down to the exhaust, and gave it a whack. Pure music!

I loved trials way back my first was a Yamaha TY250A then a few after that, loved the sport, had a mint TL 250 Honda which had never been trialled, a couple of RL Suzukis came and went, then the Honda got swapped for a 380 SWM one of only two in New Zealand, then my last was a great clubman bike Ital jet again the only one brought to NZ great video, I did ride a Sammy Miller replica like GOV 132 in one trial now that was so different. I have never ridden the later bikes like the mono shock Yammahas or any of the strage named machines we see today to be honest the lightest two bikes I rode belonging to friends was a TY175 Yamaha and a Honda TL 125 both were amazing light weight bikes compared to what I had ridden

What year Cub is that based on? I've always thought the Tiger Cub had one of the most esthetically pleasing engines ever - they were quite popular in the late "50s when I first started riding. So many mods were in vogue to enhance their performance and especially their reliability.

What a pretty bike. I had an ajs 350 trials back in the 70's. Was just a cheap old bike in those days but soooo much character. Never took it off road.... A bit heavy... This is unit construction, engine and gearbox in one shell? My old bsa 350 had separate gearbox. That extra chain and slippage was a pain...
